Step 1: Gather your friends (controller is mandatory)

They do not even need to have bought the game, only the host needs to. What they do need is a controller, to be able to get into the match (more on that later).

Step 2: Go ingame and into local match

You want to be in the local match menu to avoid your friends messing up with your main menu. Select a stage and a variant of it and...

Step 3: Invite your friends

Shift + Tab --> Right click your friend icon --> Remote Play Together

Step 4: Make your friends "spawn" ingame

At the moment they press a button the game will add a new player for them. Now they can select a team.

Only people with controller can play without trouble. Unfortunately those who do not own one will overlap their input with yours, which is rather unplayable :(

I have encountered a bug at this step: if a friend is kicked out of RPT (for whatever reason) its game character will be kept selected no matter what. Solution: close the game and open it again.

Step 5: Play

Ye, that's it.

Step 6: Spread the word, revive this game!

It's alright, thank you anyway and for creating this guide. Maybe there's something wrong with the Remote Play itself. Will keep trying!

When you are in the RPT session the one who joins should spawn ingame as soon as he presses a button. Try pressing all of them (if you haven't) otherwise I cannot help. I play with an ancient Logitech Cordless Rumble and it works by following these steps :/

My friend and I have followed the steps to the letter, but it still doesn't work :( We both use controllers (Steam controllers), and in the Remote Play window it shows we use different ones, but when he presses buttons to add a new player, nothing happens... I honestly have no idea why
