I wouldn't be suprised you had been matched with a full team while you were with full random mates, the team elo is equal so it's fair in regard of the matchmaking system

Valve Logic ; you can play with anyone from unranked to global, IF you're in a group of 5
If you're not in a full group, the game prevent you if there is too much difference in ranks
