Mann vs. Machine: Ghost Town Guide
By bw-jack
The aim of this guide is to tell newbies how to play Ghost Town. This MvM mission is one of the easiest ones, but still you have to know the correct strategy. The guide contains not only strategy for all nine classes, but also common rules for every player. I hope my guide will be helpful for you.

Scout
Mainly Scout's objective is to collect money and throwing mad milk at giants or huge groups of regular robots. That's why he must have damage resistance, movement speed, jump height and mad milk upgrades first.

Near the end of the 666 wave Tanks / Spies wave will come. To this moment you will have enough money to fully upgrade the Scattergun, also don't forget to buy Critical Hit Boosts. Scout should completely ignore spies and start attacking only Tanks. Better to climb up on the Tank's top so Spies can't reach you. You won't inflict as much damage as Demomen or Soldiers, but still your damage will be high. And it is only way of being useful to team during this part.
Soldier
I highly recommend the Beggar's Bazooka for this mission. At the beginning you have only 5000 dollars, this is not enough to upgrade everything. First buy these upgrades:

In order to buy all necessary upgrades it is very important for soldier to have a good scout in his team. Besides primary weapon you also have to upgrade movement speed, crit resistance and duration of the Buff Banner's effect.

During Tanks' waves Soldier has to attack Tanks, lefting bomb defense to Engineers, Heavies and other classes that do low damage to Tanks.
Pyro
Take the Phlogistinator, it will give you free Critical Hit Boosts which is important for destroying the Tanks.

Being close-range fighter you should have damage resistance and movement speed upgrades. Having that you can collect money just like Scout. So with good pyro your team can easily not have the Scout.
Demoman
Honestly this is my favorite class for this mission.
Just like Soldier you will need the good Scout in order to buy all necessary upgrades.
Strongly recommend regular grenade launcher, it is perfect.

You also should have the Chargin' Targe for faster movement over the map. Upgrade it and regular movement speed as well, along with crit resistance. But don't upgrade other damage resistances. With projectile speed upgrades you will destroy robots from afar, so you won't need any other damage resistance at all.

During Tanks' waves you are the main damage inflictor. Always use Critical Hit Boosts. With it you will inflict 520 damage with each grenade!
Heavy
Heavy's task is to kill Giants and regular robots. Unless there is no robots, never attack the Tanks, better leave it to Demomen, Soldiers and Pyros. Take these upgrades first:

You better take the Brass Beast, but regular Minigun will do good as well. Also you should have a good medic in pair with you. Alone it will be difficult to deal with Giants. This class is not very important, team can easily win without the Heavy.
Engineer
First of all you must upgrade your buildings and wrench's attack speed. Also crit resistance and power up canteen boosts will come in handy. A bit later fully upgrade metal regenerator.

Remember, turrets' bullets do low damage to the Tanks. So, during Tanks' waves, you should defend bomb by killing incoming robots. Put your turret in places where it will be hard to destroy. Even with health upgrade it will be easily destroyed by horde of robots.
Medic
There are two different ways to play as Medic: using regular Medi Gun and Kritzkrieg. Both are equally good. Obviously you have to upgrade your secondary weapon.

Demoman, Soldier and Heavy will be good partners. Use shield mostly against giants, cause they inflict extremely high damage. Forget about your primary and melee weapons, you should use only secondary one. Heal, revive, absorb damage with shield, share power up canteen boosts and use ubercharges on teammates. Those actions are only ones a good medic will perform.
Sniper
Good sniper is great killer of giants. Recommend to use the Machina, but you are free to use any other weapon. Especially the Hitman's Heatmaker, but I never used it properly, so I won't mention its use here.

Take crit resistance and movement speed ugprades. It is not so necessary, but you can also upgrade Jarate. Use critical hit boosts only against Tanks. One boost gives you three critical shots. So with 3 boosts you will inflict 9000 damage. It is not so much, but don't forget, that main goal of Sniper is to kill giants.

Also you can use bow, it is pretty powerful with proper skillful use. But still it is weaker than rifles.
Spy
On my own experience, it is the most useless class in this mission. But, if you want to play as Spy anyway, mostly you should use your knife for destroying giants. And, if there is no Scout in your team, you should be money gatherer.

Nor killing regular robots neither destroying Tanks will give a good results. So just concentrate on giants and money gathering.
Conclusion
That's it. That guide described the role of each class for newbies. Of course this guide does not have complete information about all possible strategies, it only gives the most basic info for beginners who never played this mission. So get done with reading it, join server and become more and more experienced with each finished game. Good luck!

Not stacking into resistances at all on certain classes is a terrible idea.
