Hints for S achievements (Steps Only)
By ηιgнтмαzє
This guide will not provide a step by step walkthrough to reach the S achievement for each floor, instead you'll have an indication for the minimum steps possible for each room so you can discover the solution on your own.
You can access to your current steps by pressing ESC, the current number will appear on the top of the screen, allowing you to track your progress and make sure you find the best solution for this room.

If requested, I'll add a video of each floor to show how to reach the S rank.

8th Floor
The 8th floor is mainly a Tutorial, if you follow the instructions on the screen you should have no difficulties to reach the S rank.
  • Room 1 > 03 Steps
  • Room 2 > 09 Steps (+6 steps)
  • Room 3 > 16 Steps (+7 Steps)
  • Room 4 > 23 Steps (+7 Steps)
  • Room 5 > 25 Steps (+2 Steps)
7th Floor
Repeat the actions learnt during the 8th floor and listen to the robots hints.
  • Room 1 > 05 Steps
  • Room 2 > 08 Steps (+3 Steps)
  • Room 3 > 14 Steps (+6 Steps)
  • Room 4 > 26 Steps (+12 Steps)
  • Room 5 > 38 Steps (+12 Steps)
  • Room 6 > 48 Steps (+10 Steps)
6th Floor
As usual, take the time to read the instructions given by the robots.
  • Room 1 > 03 Steps
  • Room 2 > 10 Steps (+7 Steps)
  • Room 3 > 19 Steps (+9 Steps)
  • Room 4 > 40 Steps (+21 Steps)
In order to limit your steps, you need to learn two new techniques which are particularly useful with the elevators. Those two techniques are often used together and aren't explained by the robots.
- You can place multiple lights on the first lantern of a group, then move on top of an elevator before dragging the lights from lantern to lantern to activate the elevator.
- It is possible to absorb the lights while dragging your lights to activate an elevator. For doing this, place the lights on the first light of a group, then press S to prepare yourself to absorb the lights. Once ready, drag the lights to activate the elevator and releases S, you should have absorbed all the lights around, including the first one of the chain activating the elevator.
To make it easier to understand, I made a gif to show the process.

This Floor has a bonus achievements if you finished it without restarting.
5th Floor
Robots won't teach you anything more, but with what you already learnt, this one shouldn't be a problem.

  • Room C > 53 Steps (+17 Steps)

4th Floor
When in doubt, press F to see the range of Luz and the lanterns. You have now access to the blue light. Don't forget to speak to the robots.

Final Thoughts
I'm not done myself with the game, but having a look at the other guides, I thought it was helping a little too much and I would rather prefer to know how many steps take each room to find the best solution on my own. Though, if you want me to make a video for each floor, you only have to ask.

You can save 2 steps in Room 5 of 4th Floor to end up with 91 steps total

I have found that it's possible to solve 2nd floor in 100 steps total via exiting room 5 early with 2 lights, activating the door, then returning.

I did a video of the whole 3rd floor. Here's where the 5th room starts (will SPOIL the room for you):

I think I'll eventually make a video for the 3rd floor which is the hardest.
You have to keep 1 light from the room 5, if you don't you'll end up stuck in the room 6, it should also lower your steps on room 5 :) !

On 3rd floor, I tried really hard to do "room 5" in 80 steps but ended up with 83 every single time. I'm missing something but I can't figure it out.

I changed it, thank you for your help.
I made that guide because there was no in between "full guide giving away everything" and "nothing". I wanted people to enjoy looking for the solution while having a hint to know where they are doing right or wrong.

Got it. Thanks for the hint. I have no idea why I couldn't find the way to reduce the step count in Room 6 before. But, I finally figured it out.

Don't forget the changed step count I mentioned earlier for the Ground Floor. The guide still shows 81 steps instead of 83.

Since I was at a loss for reducing my steps in Room 5, I had decided to do exactly that. So far, I haven't been able to come up with anything to help. But, since this is all I have left in the game to finish, I'll give that another look. Thanks.

And, BTW, I appreciate this guide. Trying to beat about a 100 steps on an entire floor in the game is much too big. Having this guide give us information about steps per room is very helpful.

Alright, I'm going to give you a big tip and tell me if that's enough for you to move on: don't separate the top of the room 6 with the bottom of the room 5.
Try to think of a way to get things done without getting down.
