Description
The 'Akita Inu' Mining Transport is a heavy transport truck built to carry a large mining vessel and multiple loads of ore. It is intended as a rugged and highly mobile support vehicle for multiple types of missions, and is a highly valuable investment for engineers anticipating the massive consumption of mined resources.

Sorry about the screenshots! Steam has a less-than-perfect server architecture and loses them every couple of months. This will be permanently corrected with the release of the Mk 4 version.

Datasheet
Blocks: 1,013
Non-armor blocks: 212
PCU: 4,832
Triangles: 603,391
Mass: 63 tons

Length: 26.5 m
Width: 12.5 m
Height: 5.5 m

Key Features
  • Fast travel: Twelve-wheel drive and adjustable suspension allows for rapid movement.
  • Low-visibility driving: Multiple navigational and safety lighting systems limit the chance and severity of nighttime accidents.
  • Accessible storage: Rear-facing Connector can link up to station Connectors when vehicle is parked on ground or on half-height blocks.
  • Versatile power: Four Batteries, a Hydrogen Engine, and two O2/H2 Generators allow for use away from permanent installations.
  • Toggled sorter array: Rapidly empty a docked miner or switch modes to quickly refuel.
  • Colonization systems: Use the Survival Kit and whatever ingots or components you've packed to set up a base anywhere, at any time.

// ATTENTION // Due to a design oversight this vehicle has difficulty making turns while fully loaded. A workaround is to turn off steering on Axle 4. Thank you for your understanding!

Description
Among the heaviest surface engineering vehicles below the category of mobile bases, the Akita Inu is the premier solution to the challenge of large-scale resource extraction and transport. This massive cargo rover has been engineered to support a loaded 'Sedgemoor' Atmospheric Miner and an additional four loads of ore, meaning a single expedition can extract an astronomical 382 tons of valuable minerals. Constructing one of these can effectively remove most economic limits on expansion and allow for any number of high-end designs to be successfully built, particularly by individual engineers far from support.

The Akita Inu uses an upscaled wheel layout similar to that of smaller transports, but adjusted for the design's immense weight. It functions most effectively on open terrain where its stability at high speed can be properly tested. Careful handling is required on difficult terrain, where steering can be done with Gyroscopes and the suspension can be adjusted to handle sudden changes in slope. It is not intended for movement across broken ground or significant increases in elevation, but may be able to do so if operated at below its maximum load. Despite its extreme weight, the vehicle is surprisingly resistant to damage and mishandling when operating in hostile environments. It is important to note that the user can and should alter suspension settings based on load to ensure safe operation.

Several tiers of storage allow the design to function in multiple roles. The forward section contains two Medium Cargo Containers, three Small Cargo Containers, two O2/H2 Generators accessible from the top and bottom of the vehicle, a Hydrogen Engine for backup power, and the ship's Survival Kit. At the rear, six Large Cargo Containers hold unrefined ores, while six Medium Cargo Containers are linked up to store large components as well. A ten-channel Conveyor Sorter array automatically unloads a docked mining ship. The vehicle's power systems, which are accessible from below the chassis, and other critical systems such as Gyroscopes are protected by the cargo space and two layers of armor. If desired, a turret emplacement can be added to the top of the vehicle.

Engineering projects can get very big very quickly. The Akita Inu is up to the challenge and will ensure that your most spectacular designs are limited only by your imagination.

Content Information
This design does not use mods, subgrids, or scripts, and it should work in survival mode with thruster damage on. Experimental mode is NOT required.

I love the dartmoor and the other ships, beautiful design, but this truck is not really capable in open terrain. It tends to loose wheels, is not able to climb and easily runs out of fuel.

I have tried to add scripts for better driving, like the DAS Driver Assist System. Then its driving better.
But be aware if you just add the script and then dock the miner, it is very easy that crazy things will happen. Needs some deeper configuration, but then it works.
I will make a redesign for myself, because its not driving good in rough terrain right now.
But its a good start to make something out of it. Keep up the good work !
