Initial Setup
First thing that needs to be setup is your SteamID needs to be added to the AdminList.txt file.

AppData\Local\Outlaws\Saved\AdminList.txt

If you can't find your AppData folder, it is a hidden folder by default, you will have to enable viewing of these by clicking on VIEW in the top menu of your folder, then ticking the box next to Hidden Items.

The SteamID is the 17 digit number associated with your Steam account. You can use Steam ID Finder[steamidfinder.com] to find your number.

Once you have your ID added load up Outlaws, if this is on a server it's best to restart the server.

Bring up the console by holding Shift and pressing the tilde key (you can now bind this in the Options > Keybindings menu to whatever key you want)

Shift + ~

Type in the following command

activateadmin

The admin menu is now available when you press escape to view the escape menu

Set Global Message

It does work for single player. I had ssd drive and it was smaller and so I only had windows and steam with only ark on it and the rest on my other drive. Got a new computer and my new ssd drive is much larger so I am able to install all steam games on same drive and now when I look for the files they are where they belong so if you have a set up like I did it may not be an easy task to find files and get them to work properly if they are on different drives. I had no choice at the time the drive just could not hold everything with ark.

Is the AppData folder inside steem? Could you forward the full directory please?

I am beginning to think that the admin activate is not or does not apply or work for single player. I don't have a server just want to do some things while playing single player and try to increase stacks and harvest and regen etc but nothing I have done works . :(

Tip: If you can't find your AppData folder and its sub-folders, make sure that you have hidden items visible in Windows Explorer. I was scratching my head trying to find it, thinking it was because I had my stuff installed on a different drive than C. Nope, the folder was just hidden! ^_^

it does work (I've used the hotkey before to take over some things). It takes a bit for the text when looking at an object to update

Admin Set Highlight Object Owner to self: Does this work on buildings? I had volunteers building newbie town and a few other things thinking I could later "own" them so they would not be blown up in course of PVP. I did the command on a building - I saw the message in top right corner of screen acknowledging the change. Restarted server, but I do not "own" the building.

hmm, that seems a bit weird. Are you able to send me a message on Discord so we can discuss this a little easier and find out what's going on

Sorry, I wasn't clear.
I do realize they can't join single player, but we like to test games before having the whole group purchase the game and renting a server. (In this case they were watching me stream).
I have created the file at that location but it does nothing.
I followed the .ini instructions you have posted and that was the only thing that let me alter anything that seemed to make a difference- instead of admin rights I made it so that certain stats were altered. -Allowing easier survival to try out different aspects of the game.
I have hosted and rented servers for multiple games so usually it doesn't take me long to get things figured out, but I am completely lost what is going wrong in this instance.
On top of all of this every time I load singleplayer it forces me to make a new character and I lose all my progress.

I'm a little confused by your statement @Bella, your friends won't be able to play with you if you're on single player.

Make sure you've added your steam 64 ID to the adminList.txt file located here:
C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Local\Outlaws\Saved
This is JUST a list of numbers, not your username. If you add that, restart the game, you should be good to go
