@Just Mike I use an Xbox One standard controller plugged into my pc. The steering lock setting also help quite a bit, the extended turning range on the wheels allows me to keep control of the vehicle on steeper drifts.

Yeah, most of the in-game music is pretty high tempo.

The music seems sped up but that's probably because it's nightcore.
