Introduction
Guide written by Saul

Whether you want some easy achievements, wish to explore the landscapes, or like ploughing through enemies with unrivalled ease, commands are the way forward.

What are commands?
A command is an instruction to the game. One you may be familiar with is pressing W to move forwards.

Commands will not get you VAC banned; they are a part of the game.

There are several other commands in the multiplayer version of Black Ops, however, I will not be covering those since they have little relevance to the single player and can be discovered through use of the console.

I hope to make this guide as conclusive as possible, and would appreciate it if members of the community would share with me any Black Ops commands I have missed.
How to Use Config Commands
Unlike the multiplayer version of Black Ops, and other titles such as Counter Strike: Global Offensive, there is no player-accessible console in Black Ops single player. Therefore, to use the commands they must first be set up as binds in the config file.

The config file can be found at D:\SteamLibrary\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Call of Duty Black Ops\players

Another way to access this file is by right-clicking on Black Ops in your Steam library, clicking properties, local files, browse local files.

The folder will look like this.

Open the 'config' file with any text editing program. Microsoft's notepad works just fine.

Using Ctrl+F, locate seta monkeytoy "1" and change it to seta monkeytoy "0"

Go to the bottom of the document and type in spu

Press return twice.

You are now able to insert bind commands at the bottom of the document which correspond with a chosen key to perform an action in game.

For example, with the command bind - "god" inserted, pressing the '-' key would make you invincible.

This is an example of the binding format.

It is possible to assign multiple commands to a single bind. For example bind - "god;noclip;give m1911_zm"

When you are finished creating your binds, save the config file. If you are prompted to save elsewhere, the file is in read-only mode. To disable this, right-click the 'config' file inside the 'player' folder, click properties, read-only, and then click apply. Now you will be able to save the file. Toggle this back to read-only when you are finished, otherwise the game may overwrite your efforts.
Config Commands (Campaign)

"god" - makes the player invincible
"demigod" - makes the player vulnerable to damage, but most sources will not kill the player
"notarget" - the AI will no target the player

Argument Commands

An argument command is one which requires a value of 0 or 1 to toggle. Insert the desired value in conjunction with the inequality signs. For example "cg_drawGun <1>". Commands without the inequality signs also require a value. For example "player_meleeRange 1000".

"friendlyfire_dev_disabled <>" - toggles friendly fire

Config Commands (Dead Ops Arcade)
Weapons

"give china_lake_Zt”
"give m2_flamethrower_zt”
"give minigun_zt”
"give ray_gun_Zt”
"give rpg_zt”
"give spas_zt”

Other

It is possible to play Dead Ops Arcade in first person with the following command. However, it will prevent you from aiming down sight in regular zombies without deleting your config file and then reloading it by checking game files. Thus, I wouldn't recommend this.
"toggle player_topdowncammode 0 3"

With these commands you can get monkeys in zombies, but they do not act like monkeys (drawing the zombies towards them). Instead, the zombies ignore them and it explodes like a more powerful grenade).
