[GUIDE] How to: Electricity

[GUIDE] How to: Electricity

I've decided to start making guides about some common things people get wrong. These guides will be called "How to:" guides.

This guide will mainly teach you the roots and basics of setting up bulbs, wires, treadmills, and more.
Thank you for spending your time reading my guide! I hope that you will find it helpful in some way!

Please let me know if I got any information wrong, as this is the first day of the game's release, and not everything is already known.
All information in this guide is current information I've received, if you've realized that some part of this guide is not true, make sure to leave a comment and I'll update that part.

Step 1: Your Powerbox
Upon loading up the game, you may have noticed a box with a lightning bolt on top of it near your entrance. This box is a Power Box. Your Power Box will be essentials to making your Rec Center. The power box is not upgradeable. The box will supply power to any items you have in your rec center via a wire. More on that later.

The power box can not be deleted, it also can't be moved.

Step 2: Lighting
Now it's time to place your lights! You have 2 options of lights to pick from, a 50w bulb, and a 100w bulb.

- The more watts a bulb has, the farther it's range.
- Lights MUST be placed under a roof, a roof can be built in the buttom right corner of the "walls" section of the build mode
Step 3: Wiring
Now onto a part that may get confusing, so listen to this guide very carefully.
To connect lights & other electronics to a powerbox, you'll need to use wires.

Wires are built by accessing the "utility" section in the main menu bar.

Next, press the "place cables" button, which iconically looks like a bunch of electric cables.

Then, drag your cable from your light, all the way, to your powerbox.

Let your builder do the work, and when he finishes, if everything went right, the lights should automatically turn on.

Step 4: Light Switches
Light switches are easier than they might appear. To use a light switch, simply add one to your MAIN cable line, adding one to a cable line that runs off of a main line will NOT work. Yes I've tried.

Example of a light switch that would work:

Hey, Dev! Just got the game, pretty cool! Took me a sec to figure out electricity, and this guide helped a bit! Thanks author of this guide and the Developer!

That's a really good idea though, cmcmahon92.

I already have timers on things like zones, surely I can make light switches work with timers.

I'll add it to my to-do list!

No, light switches can't be set on timers. I'm 99.99% sure of this. The main reason I think this is because light switches have no UI to set an "on" time and an "off" time.

Can light switches be set for timers?
