Fix for the black screen of death / flashing screen of death
Por Spyd
If your game hangs after the loading screen or after you select something in the menu, this is the fix that worked for me.

Introduction
I recently got back to play a little Peggle on a new laptop with Windows 10 and a modern AMD processsor and Radeon graphics card.
The game starts and loads normally, but after loading or after selecting something on the menu, the game hangs with a black screen or starts flashing black and white.
As far as I have deduced, this is caused by the hardware acceleration being active. This is how you deactivate hardware acceleration
Fix
  • Run the game
  • Press and keep pressed on the keyboard the keys Ctrl and Alt, then press D. The default Windows notification sound will play.
  • Press Shift + F8. If it pops up a message saying "3D Mode: Off", now the problem is fixed.
  • If the message says "3D Mode: On", press Shift + F8 again.
  • If you want to know if the "3D Mode" is on or not, press F8.

doing Alt+Enter puts any current screen into window mode which was an alternate fix for me

@The_Something No, this is to disable render acceleration in this game specifically. If you don't have 3D acceleration in your computer, check if you have correctly installed the drivers for your graphics card.

OR you may need to update your graphics card. SETTINGS>>DISPLAY>>ADVANCED DISPLAY SETTINGS>>DISPLAY ADAPTER PROPERTIES>>PROPERTIES>>DRIVE TAB>>UPDATE DRIVER
