Running the game in full HD [+New fix for 3D Acceleration]

By default, it's not possible to enable 3D Acceleration on Windows 10, so you're stucked on a 800x600 resolution. Thankfully, there's a patch to fix this. Instructions in text and video. Update: there's a new fix for 3D Acceleration .

This guide was made back in 2019, so I don't know how well it will work on newer Windows, since I've switched to Linux a couple of years ago.

Introduction

On WIndows 10 (and in some cases, Windows 7 and Windows 8.1) it's not possible to enable 3D Acceleration (which is needed for a 1920x1200 resolution and extra graphical effects) by default. With this guide I'll show you how to fix this.

All credits go to Andrei Stoian. I just made this guide to help spread the word.

Note: The video section constains mostly the same instructions as the text instructions section - the only difference is that on text instructions I took the liberty to streamline this workaround a bit more. Feel free to choose the one you would like.

Go to this link[github.com] > click on "Clone or download" > "Download ZIP"

Open the ZIP file and navigate through: "popcap-games" > "bejeweled-twist" > copy the "compat.cfg" to your desktop > click on the "steam folder" > "1.0.3.7482" > copy the "BejeweledTwist-nosig+vmem+vcard" exe file to your desktop

Go to your desktop and rename the exe file "BejeweledTwist-nosig+vmem+vcard" to "BejeweledTwist"

Copy both ""BejeweledTwist" and "compat.cfg" files from your desktop

Go to your Bejeweled Twist instalation folder - located at Steam\steamapps\common\Bejeweled Twist

Paste both files there and choose to overwrite

Done! Now enjoy your game in full HD, with extra graphical effects and Steam Overlay enabled

Extra: Fixing other Bejeweled games

As you might have noticed, the file you download on GitHub[github.com] also contains patches for other games from this series. The patching is similar (on some cases - check the ReadMe file there for more info) or the same (on Bejeweled 3).

Troubleshoot

My game is not saving. What can I do?

Just run the game executable (BejeweledTwist.exe) as an administrator, even if you're the only person using your computer. The lack of save ability (which can happen in several games) occurs when the computer thinks it doesn't have the permissions needed to save on the system. By running the game with admin privileges, you're sending a clear message to your computer that it's allowed to create saves on the system.

I have the "Missing steam.dll" issue. How can I fix it?

The missing steam.dll error happens sometimes with older games. Here's how to fix it:

Go to your Steam client instalation folder. By default is located on:
C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam

Now copy the steam.dll file and paste it in the Bejeweled Twist folder. By default:
C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Bejeweled Twist

Well, i can't use the patched exe files, Steam always complains: wrong platform.

As of today, 28/11/2024, the method of replacing files taken from Github, works well.

i did exactly everithing there is and it still dont enable, what should i do??

i did everything explained here but i still have this one issue that prevents me from playing,

"BASS_ChannelSetAttributes not found in bass.dll"

does anybody know how to fix this because i have looked everywhere and i can't seem to find an answer.
