How to change resolution
In your games library, right click BoS. Click properties. Click Local Files. Click Browse Local Files.

Now go Mods>Bos>Settings>Video.cfg

In Video.cfg, change...

Height_Release = XXXX.000000;
Width_Release = XXXX.000000;

To your desired resolution.

Example
Height_Release = 1080.000000;
Width_Release = 1920.000000;

After changing your resolution, exit and save the config. Now, right click the config and click "properties". In that, change the cfg to "read only", so the game doesn't your resolution while playing.
How to change FOV
1. Browse BoS' local files. Open Mods, then Bos, then Tuning.

2. In tuning, open "GamePlay.cfg". This file contains FOV values for you and the AI.

3. Change "GameFovView1" to your desired value (GameFovView1 is the default "non zoom/shield" FOV). Then, change "GameFovView2" to your desired value (GameFovView2 is the zoom FOV. You can leave this alone if you want) Then, change "GameFovShieldOn" to your desired value (This is the FOV value for zooming with a shield in hand. You can leave this unchanged if you want). Finally, we have "ExoFovFirstPerson". This is the FOV value for your view in a mech/exo suit. You can leave this unchanged or set it to your "GameFovView1" FOV.

4. Save and close the file, then set it's properties to "read only", otherwise the game won't accept your new FOV value upon launching.

Aha, alright, thank you so much for your detailed answer.

It's not the same as retail. Retail 1.2 has the same resolution issues as 1.3. Apart from resolution, I don't know what differences there are between 1.3 and 1.2 aside from "new guns" (They are in the files, they don't get used), PhysX support (Doesn't work anymore), and some new vfx (The blood stains were made comically large, and the concrete fx are now brown like dirt).

Just 1 more question: Is Steam v1.2 the same as the retail v1.2 (i.e. no difference in settings/bug fixes between the two)? I'm asking because from your own words, v1.2 seems to be the superior version when it comes to resolution at least.

The Steam version, while it does say 1.2, is slightly improved upon from 1.3 as far as resolution goes. 1.3 stretches the image on 16:9, but 1.2 stretches the image on 4:3 inward. It seems no matter what, the game has some sort of stretching going on. Furthermore, I don't see the issue with editing the config, that's just an old game thing at this point.

Am I going insane or what? The game doesn't seem to support 4K natively unless edited through the Video.cfg file, it supports up to 1920x1080 in the Video menu and I can't scroll further at the bottom. I've tried patching it to v1.3 because the Steam version is by default v1.2 but it still has 1080p as the maximum supported resolution in the Video menu. How do I scroll bottom further if that's even possible? I tried using arrow keys, WASD keys and mouse scrolls, nothing, can't scroll past that. And why does PCGamingWiki say the Steam version supports 4K? It doesn't (at least natively through the menus) and I have a native 4K monitor and not doing dynamic resolutions through Nvidia DSR or something.

I have no clue how to add things to but maybe I will do it.

It supports them yes but not by default you have to change code in the files so resolution part is useful without I would still be playing at 1024p.

I mean you could do it yourself. The game supports most resolutions, even 4k as far as I know, so I dont think this guide is even remotely helpful aside from the FOV bit

Could someone add this to the pcgamingwiki page there still is very little information on it thanks.

I enjoy making mods for this game. Unfortunately, I don't think I can make a sort of total conversion mod. Something that greatly mixes up the gameplay like Brutal Doom, y'know? I could do something like that... with the Doom engine. Unfortunately, this game doesn't have good mod support AT ALL. While I enjoy making mods for this game, it is rather tedious dragging and dropping files, copying and pasting values, adding new values and files and such. Funny enough, this is my first mod project.

Thank you! Do consider looking at my other mods/configurations when you have completed this game. They also can be found in Steam's BoS guides. The BoS sound overhaul will be updated soon with a multiple impact sounds for different materials (Because BoS only used a standard ricochet sound before for shooting stuff like wood or metal and such). It's not much, but being that BoS was missing this at first, I think it's kind of a big deal. It took like, an hour working on that. It was fun though. I enjoy fixing what the developers didn't/won't
