This is a script and sound override that adds a lot more "oomph" to fireballs and explosions. I originally wrote this script for The Avid & Apathy and got the idea that this effect could be a lot of fun in other modules and even the OC.

WHAT IT DOES:
Adds environmental effects to fireball impacts. Fireballs now leave scorch marks, emit smoke and have the chance to ignite small fires around the area of impact. This is all achieved using default NWN assets, so no hak files are necessary. These effects will always occur at the ground level*, even if the target is above ground level i.e. a flying creature. The result is that fireballs leave a lasting impact and appear much more destructive to the environment, as well as adding long-lasting battle scars to the area after a fireball fight.

*NOTE: Ground level is determined by tileset's collision mesh. Invisible raised collision meshes may result in floating scorch marks and fires

Also replaces the default "hissing" fireball sound effect with a more powerful explosive sound effect. Casting a fireball spell now sounds like firing a rocket launcher.

WHAT IT DOESN'T:
Increase damage, effect radius, or otherwise modify the effectiveness of fireball spells. The changes are purely cosmetic.

WHAT I'D LIKE TO DO LATER:
Modify the actual explosion visual effect to have a high-definition texture, rather than just being an orange glow.

USING THIS MOD:
Simply subscribing to this mod will apply the effect to any module that hasn't directly modified its own nw_s0_fireball script.

FOR MOD BUILDERS:
You are welcome to include this script in your module so long as you credit the author. If you would like to apply this effect to your module without using the override, simply import the erf file "EE_firebll" into your module by using the Import feature under Files in the Aurora Toolset.

The script includes a number of constants that make editing the parameters of the effect simpler. For example, you can reduce the time that fires and scorch marks stick around if you are worried about server load on a PW.
SCORCH_LIFESPAN = 600.0; //How long scorch marks remain. Default is 10 minutes.
SMOKE_LIFESPAN = 30.0; //How long smoke effect remains. Default is 30 seconds.
FIRE_LIFESPAN = 120.0; //How long fires remain. Default is 2 minutes.
FIRE_CHANCE = 50; //Chance for fires to start. Default is 0.50
FIRE_MAX = 3; //Maximum amount of fires a fireball will start at a time. Default is 3.
HEIGHT_MAX = 2.0; //The highest elevation a target object can be before this effect is ignored.
