Mechromancer Skills
In this guide I hope to answer any questions concerning the usefulness of the Mechromancer's skills. I have given a scale (Awesome - Good - Meh -Trash) to quickly show usefulness and a brief reason for such a rank.

I am in no way telling anyone how to play the game, nor am I proclaiming myself to be an expert by any means. These are just my personal experiences experimenting with each of the skills in various scenarios. I do love the Mechromancer character and am constanly changing things up to help keep her gameplay fresh and challenging. And I can definitely say that no matter which skills you choose, even the ones I deem not worth investing in, this game is highly possible to beat. So above all, go with what you feel most comfortable with. Play to have fun! For it is only a game.

Also a little recommendation, take advantage of your class mod. Adding several points to a mediocre skill can be a lot more beneficial than only adding one point to an awesome skill. Just don't spend several points on other mediocre skills to get to it!

Let the fun being...
Best Friends Forever

Best Friends Forever (Good)

Close Enough (Awesome) - Without Anarchy, this is an awesome skill that makes even the worst weapons viable to use. With Anarchy, it's a must have!

Cooking Up Trouble (Meh) - Decent early game. It's nice for saving money on health, but money is never an issue. Otherwise it just conflicts with Anarchy too much to get used productively. Discord makes this skill compeltely irrelevant.

Fancy Mathematics (Meh) - Not bad in the early game, but becomes mostly unbeneficial. Blood Soaked Shields can make it even more so.

Buck Up (Trash) - Highly glitched ability. Wastes more of Deathtrap's time than it benefits you.

The Better Half (Awesome) - Not only does this skill add serious damage output, but also helps gain Anarchy.

Potent as a Pony (Meh) - Health is always nice, but the benfits of this skill lessen with every level you gain to the point of being mostly irrelevant.

Upshot Robot (Awesome) - A must have for any Deathtrap user! The longer Deathtrap is out, the more distraction he can cause. And if he's out long enough, he can start to deal decent damage on his own.

Unstoppable Force (Good) - For being a Kill Skill you would expect more. Is helpful in both offensive and defensive situations, which is nice. Can conflict with Blood Soaked Shields sometimes, but still worth investing in.

Explosive Clap (Good) - Mainly useful for dispersing crowds or knocking opponents out from hidey-holes.

Made of Sterner Stuff (Good) - The damage reduction is meager, but added to the helpful Deathtrap damage, this skill becomes decent. It's a great skill for the Deathtrap enthusiests.

20% Cooler (Good) - The lower the cooldown, the more often you can release your pet. The more your pet is out, the less sights are aimed at you. And since Gaige has one of the longest cooldowns, this skill can be very helpful.

Sharing is Caring (Awesome) - This is the absolute best way to make Deathtrap productive, defensively or offensively. A great strategy to use with this skill is equip an awesome shield for DT, summon him, and then re-equip whichever shield you prefer for yourself. He keeps the shield he's spawned with.
Little Big Trouble

Little Big Trouble (Meh)

More Pep (Meh) - A decent skill in the early game. Becomes mostly irrelevant late game.

Myelin (Good) - A two-fer skill that's for the most part beneficial and works well together.

Shock Storm (Meh) - A powerful skill that loses power throughout the game. Early on it's devastating on shielded mobs of enemies, but later on it's output is negligible.

The Stare (Good) - This Deathtrap ability can be completely awesome in certain situations and mostly annoying in others. Best used in single-enemy encounters like most boss fights.

Strength of Five Gorillas (Meh) - Only really useful if you gain points from a mod also.

Electrical Burn (Meh) - Small chance for such a small amount of damage.

Shock and "AAAGGGGHHH!" (Good) - A decent nova effect that works well with Anarchy. More powerful earlier in the game, but holds up okay late game. Just keep an eye out for nearby barrels!

Evil Enchantress (Good) - Very gear and playstyle oriented, but can be a very powerful skill.

One Two Boom (Meh) - The orb itself is very nice and does decent damage, but not only does it take too much time for Deathtrap to produce which is better served meleeing, but also has to be shot which can be a lot harder to do than it's worth. Especially when he throws it through a wall or isn't visible to you to begin with. Also can't be shot with E-Tech weaponry.

Wires Don't Talk (Good) - Good damage output if you're properly geared for it.

Interspersed Outburst (Awesome) - Combined with the right weapon, this skill can be extremely powerful, even late game. If it was just more Anarchy friendly, it alone would make this tree worth investing in. Unfortunately it isn't.

Make It Sparkle (Trash) - This skill is more likely to hinder your gameplay than be beneficial, especially late game where enemies' resistances are much more varied.
Ordered Chaos

Ordered Chaos (Awesome)

Smaller, Lighter, Faster (Awesome/Meh) - This skill helps make Anarchy even more awesome. Without Anarchy though, it's not nearly as useful.

Anarchy (Awesome) - This is the skill that makes Gaige more than just a side-liner to her robot. And as the game progresses it makes her robot just a sideliner to her! This is where the vast majority of Gaige's damage output derives from.

Preshrunk Cyberpunk (Good) - The more Anarchy you can possibly have, the more damage you can possibly do.

Robot Rampage (Good) - The most beneficial of all of Deathtrap's abilities.

Blood Soaked Shields (Awesome) - This is the skill that helps make the Mechromancer unstoppable. As long as enemies keep dying, you keep going.

Annoyed Android (Good) - The faster Deathtrap can get to the enemy, the quicker he can start distracting them from you and dealing damage of his own.

Discord (Awesome) - This can be used as an extremely beneficial offensive skill or as a last resort defensive skill. Or, depending on your Anarchy stacks, both.

Typecast Iconoclast (Good) - Helps gain Anarchy quicker. And who doesn't love Anarchy at this point?

Rational Anarchist (Awesome) - Helps get you right back in the game no matter what the situation.

Death From Above (Trash) - Meager damage output for such a situational skill.

The Nth Degree (Awesome) - Helping to guarantee you damage more than one opponent at a time.

With Claws (Good) - Can do very decent melee damage, but also is great as a last resort skill to help you stay alive.

Well, honestly I've used "Make it sparkle" throughout most of the game, though in UVHM and on I've more or less only used slag on Deathtrap, to help me slag enemies. Thus not making it thrash, as it works well with "Robot rampage." It also makes is so that if Deathtrap focuses someone else than me, he will be able to actually deal decent damage without me having to spec in all the bonus damage for him/it skills. (Strength of five gorillas, & made of sterner stuff.) However, I've usually gotten most of the Deathtrap upgrades, such as "The stare," "Buck up," "Upshot robot," and so on.

I understand that these are just Cliff-Notes for each skill, but I felt that most of your skill overviews are missing the answer as to why you feel the way you do. I know it would be a massive undertaking, but I think you'd do well to add in the answer as to why you feel the way you feel instead of assuming that people will understand your very brief train of thoughs.

@softi With Blood-soaked shields, the downside of the Love Thumper is non-existant, and the Hide is pretty hard to get, though it is pretty awesome. One MASSIVE downside of the thumper, however, is that the explosive nova? It deals friendly fire damage, and the explosion damage is only enough to cripple allies, whilst barely damaging enemies. So yes, in multiplayer, Hide or Firehawk is your best option.

I generally go with Hide of Terramorphous for Deathtrap. To me it's the most win-win of all the shields. Might not be as powerful as Love Thumper but doesn't have any of the disadvantages. Flame of the Firehawk is also fun though.

after playing around single player, its actually possible to beef dt up a lot with lovethumper.

first downside: you have to stay away like a light year or the explosions of the shield will shred you to pieces when he starts his whirling attack.
the second downside which foobars the dt- centered build overall: at bosses or constructors he starts his lightning arc which renders him useless -.-

next thing i wanna test is a flame of the firehawk centered build.

Thanks for the comments. I agree about team play. Deathtrap is by far the least beneficial of all the Vault Hunters' abilities (with the longest cooldown?!?) so in co-op I usually recommend focusing more on Anarchy and Gaige's DPS instead of pet skills. Especially end game!

when considering teamplay, i actually question upshot robot. you have to make the finishing blow, or dt has to. But in a group this doesnt often occur.
in a party robot rampage often misses because enemies are distracted by someone else and they just go away.
my addition to the guide which is awesome nevertheless. just my to cents from my perspective. greetz!

fancy mathematics as well is fantastic, since you might not be able to fully recharge your shield in fight when you dont get the last hit, and when you dont have the high end equip cutting down the cooldown to half can save your life.
unstoppable force can come in handy in two ways, either you are depleted or surrounded and you have to flee, or you are in melee rampage and you want to leech as soon as possible and the speed helps you avoid further direct hits.
explosive clap can be contra productive when playing with a siren, which manages to pull mobs together to max aoe weapons effectiveness.
the stare mostly make me feel unconvenient because it only works on few enemys effectively, and it locks dt`s time when he could make somethinguseful.

your guide is great, it ispired me, a former ut player, to find the right direction. i found that playing with a shotgun - explosives with many shards because of anarchy- is my favourite and i usually play in parties i got to the point to evaluate the skills a little different, but it helped me a lot.
in addition when taking party play into account i recommend following, since you wont always get the final kill and most other chars ninja healthitems:
cooking up trouble is fantastic, when you move to the next area and your low ammo shotgun or any other gun is beeing ful provides you with the oportunity to get full health before the next fight.
