For those who have not played a japanese game before the controls may not be obvious. Especially as the options show a game controller.

So while playing on a PC the default controls are as follows:

Menu Navigation

• Esc - Exit game
  
• Z - Accept
  
• X - Cancel / Go back
  
• ↑ ↓ ← → - Navigate

Gameplay controls

• Z - Attack
  
• X - Special Attack (Uses mana)
  
• C - Jump
  
• V - Block
  
• Q - Pause
  
• ↑ ↓ ← → - Movement
