Before you start
  • Do this at own responsibility.

  • The software featured in this guide is entirely open-source, feel free to review the code if you have any doubts.

  • Do not run this software while playing a game unless you run this on a secondary computer, rather be safe than sorry.

  • Feel free to ask questions in the comment section.

  • Links in comments are probably scam, so beware.

  • Enjoy showing off that you're able to play "Steam" :D

  • Special thanks to:
    "Archi" - for creating & maintaining ASF[github.com]
    "Aevoa" - for creating the guide cover & amazing steam guides!
Step 1 - Download and Extract
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Win = If you're using a Windows PC
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀OSX = If you're using a Mac
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Linux = If you're using Linux
  • Select one of them and download it.

  • After you've downloaded the file, create a new folder somewhere and extract the files into it using any extraction tool of your choosing (Windows File Explorer, Winzip, Winrar, 7zip etc)
Step 2 - Configuration
  • After you've extracted the files, open the folder and look for a file called "ConfigGenerator" and open it.

  • A website looking like this should show up, select "Bot", fill in the first 3 lines and click the Enabled button as shown in the picture.
    - If you have Family View enabled i recommend you fill in that aswell. If you have Family View enabled and dont fill it in, it may prompt you when you launch the program.

  • Click "Toggle advanced settings"
    Scroll down a bit and you'll see "GamesPlayedWhileldle", in that box you write "753" and click add. Then click on "FarmingPreferences and select "FarmPriorityQueueOnly" then click add.

    - If you wish to idle steam trading cards before you idle Steam, set "FarmingPreferences" to "None" instead of "FarmPriorityQueueOnly". Or if you wish to idle something else than steam you can replace "753" with one of these unique AppID's: Link to unique Appids[pastebin.com] You can also idle any specific game by visiting the game on the steam store and use the AppID from the link instead, its the numbers that comes after "/app/" in the website link.

    After that you simply click download.
Step 3 - Setup and finishing
  • After you've downloaded the file you copy/cut it and locate the ASF folder you created earlier, locate a folder named "config" and put that single file in there.

  • Now you're pretty much done, exit the config folder and locate the file called "ArchiSteamFarm.exe" and run it. If you have a Steam Authenticator you will be asked to enter it in the software.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀That's it, you're done. You should be able to idle steam as a game now ^.^

hmm, well ive never done this since its never bothered me at all but from what i am reading is that you need to add: "Statistics": false

to either the asf.json and/or your own created file, if you get any issues, make sure its placed before the } and if you get any errors try to add a comma like this: "Statistics": false,

remove the , after the 8 number and place it on the password line instead. Like this:

"SteamPassword": "password",
"FarmingPreferences": 8
}

That should fix it :)

@b
it seems you didnt follow the instructions at all xD (this was written in end of step 2) well what happens here is that this program is actually made to farm for steam trading cards which you can sell for steam funds (cash) or use to level the steam profile, once its done it will go to idle steam, if you dont want this edit the file again and go down to the bottom where you see } then go one line above that one and add: "FarmingPreferences": 8
then go one line above that again to the

753
]

and simply add a , to the ] like this: ],

if you keep experiencing issues provide me a picture of the file, just make sure you remove your login info :)
