Prerequisites
1) Have team mates with brain cells (so most of the time it wont be possible by this requirement alone)

2) Its a lot easier to accomplish 1 when playing with an SWF.

3) Use your head, this may not always apply
The Plague and her power
So lets look at what the plague does.

She can vomit on people and objects causing those people or people who touch those objects to become sick. Further vomiting or working on objectives will progress the sickness and cause you to become broken, making you injured and unable to heal.

You can get rid of this status by interacting with fountains which also heals you. This action is very quick, however the killer can then use the fountain and her vomit will do damage and even down people instead.
The Strategy
Simply put, dont use the fountains. They are a trap. Not being able to be downed in one swing seems nice, but the killer being in corrupt purge is far worse.

Lets compare from the perspective of a survivor.

Would you rather be able to be downed in one swing

or

have to go against a super huntress who not only moves faster with her hatchet readied but fires a a burst of literal machine gun hatchets?

The first is loopable, the second is not.

Dont use the fountains, its a trap. The only time you should consider using the fountains, is that its the end game and the fountain youre using is very far from the person on the hook, since that will allow you to easily unhook the person in your new healthy state and leave before the corrupt purge becomes a problem.

This is why you must have a team with brain cells for this to work. If your team are redditers and use the fountains youre probably going to die by no fault of your own.
but you could just hide while shes in corrupt purge!
Im sorry but if you're doing this, then you are the problem.

Hiding means not doing gens and not doing gens means the killer gets more time to kill you. The only thing you have going for you as a survivor is time, and the more of that you give to the killer, the less likely you are to survive.

Side note: Even if the killer is using Thanataphobia its beter to stay broken. Yes, the time penalty sucks, but the amount of time wasted by thana is far less than youre going to lose in terms of chase time by using fountains.

@Grim Sleeper Youre right, survivors should just run in straight lines but not for too long just in case they upset the killer.

I'm sorry, but any guide that advocates cancerous looping gonna have to get a BIG "no" from me.

I've played plague, and there are certain things that also help. By doing two or three gens next to eachother, the fountains on that side of the map are pretty safe. If you cleanse on fountains that are away from gens, either 1, plague won't go to them, or 2, she will waste around 40 seconds (half a gen) just to get it.

From a rank 1 killer perspective, it's worth healing.

As a survivor who uses No Mither, I laugh at people who think being injured is the worst thing ever.

...Then I cry when I get insta-downed during purge after all my teammates cleansed themselves.
