Puzzle Dependency Charts
By Gerontius
Puzzle Dependency Charts were devised by Ron Gilbert to help him design his classic adventure games. They are a useful way of analysing games as well. This guide includes charts for the first three chapters of Detective Di.

Prologue
The prologue is the best part of the game, with a linear start followed by a classic "three thread" structure of a decent length.
Chapter 1
Though Chapter 1 features another classic "three thread" section, it is much shorter than the one in the prologue and is plagued by a series of forced bottlenecks making the chapter a very linear affair.
Chapter 2
This lengthy, almost entirely linear chapter is poorly designed but saved by a couple of interesting logic puzzles along the way.
