Howdy fellow Kangaroos!
You will learn a bunch of useful cheats from this guide. I hope these will make your game experience a more exciting one.
Launch options
Go to "Kao the Kangaroo: Round 2" properties menu and choose Set launch options... button.

There you can try out many of the following options (separated by spaces, without quotes!):

"-$=" - set number of ducats on new game, for example:
-$=3000

"-c=" - set number of crystals on new game, for example:
-c=250

"-s=" - set number of stars on new game, for example:
-s=255

"-novbr" - disable gamepad vibrations

"-notm" - disable Torpedo Mode screen ("Lair of Poison" boss stage)

"-lqae" - low quality atmoshperic effects (like snowflakes and raindrops)

"-nosv" - disable Kao’s shadow

"-nofss" - disable Full Screen Sprite (fade-in and fade-out effects)

"-loadtest" - load every level from the game. You can hold down ESC/START button on loading screen to stop the process, then close down the game, disable this option and reload your save file on a selected stage.

"-nopcf" - skip parsing default config files ("media/elephant2.ini", "media/user.ini")

"-setpf" - set a save file flag:
  • "-setpf0=-1" - first cutscene in the "Dark Docks"
  • "-setpf0=1" - cutscene after defeating Shaman
  • "-setpf0=2" - cutscene after defeating Engineer
  • "-setpf0=3" - cutscene after defeating Octopus
  • "-setpf0=4" - cutscene after defeating Pirate
  • "-setpf0=5" - cutscene after winning the motorboat race
  • "-setpf6=1" - Kao already collected treasure in the "Volcano" (set it to any other value and you can fish out treasure chests again!)
  • "-setpf7=1" - Kao already got 1000 ducats in a "Race" (set it to less or equal to 0 and you can claim your prize again!)
  • "-setpf9=1" - BOSMAN IS GONE
  • "-setpf31=0" - something special in the "Beavers’ Forest"...
Cheat codes
First, you need to set up your SELECT key. If you are playing with keyboard, please open:
"%LOCALAPPDATA%\Kao - Round 2\key.ini"
in notepad and locate option KF_R1_key. By default it should be set to:
KF_R1_key = 210
which is a Direct Input code for INSERT key ("DIK_INSERT").

Then, you want to pause the game. On main menu, hold down your SELECT button and then press listed keys in order. You will hear a sound if you entered your cheat code correctly.

Go to the next level! ("OPEN_NEXT_LEVEL")

Get 250 crystals! ("OPEN_BONUS_LEVELS")

Partial invulnerability! You can still die in water hazards and deadly pits. ("UNLIMITED_ENERGY")

Get an unlimited amount of boomerangs! ("UNLIMITED_BOOMERANGS")

Get 50 stars and unlock the first skill! ("STARS_50")

Get 100 stars and unlock the second skill! ("STARS_100")

Can't find the key.ini files. There is none in the folder. Can't also level select when on hub

what happens in the beaver forest after setpf31=0?

The level selection screen is only available in the hub ("The Dark Docks") - after completing simple tasks (like talking to some animals after defeating certain bosses) or by talking to fireflies (when returning to the hub via main menu). The cheat code must be entered again if you activated it before you used the "Load game" option, but if you use "New game" then you can input the cheat code anytime when the game is paused (it also works on the level selection screen itself).

I tried the cheat for unlocking all levels at select screen and I get a sound after inputting the code, but I'm not getting any options to choose any levels. My main menu only shows "New Game." I tried finishing a few levels and re-launching the game but it doesn't work.

The pause menu (which is also the main menu) that appears when you press the {ESC} (keyboard) / {START} (controller). Then, you press the keys for a selected cheat code in the correct order.

Default settings: ( {keyboard} / {xbox360 controller} )
JUMP = {Space} / {A}
PUNCH = {Shift} / {X}
ROLL = {Q} / {B}
THROW = {E} / {Y}

For instance, if you want to go to the next level, you open the menu, then hold down the {INSERT} key, and while holding it, press {Space} {Q} {E} {Q} {Shift} {Space} . Or, if you play with a controller, hold down the {Select} button, and then press {A} {B} {Y} {B} {X} {A} .

Don't just press the SELECT (on Gamepad) / INSERT (on Keyboard) button - HOLD it down (KEEP it pressed) when you are inputting a cheat code.

hard to understand instructions! on main menu press "Select" key (Insert?), but jump key (space) continues game (Load Game). and what the hell are those "x jump", "q roll" etc.? `couse standart keys are "space jump", "shift punch". do we have to change other keys?
