Part 1: Puzzle Analysis
This guide concerns the cellar painting puzzle in the Eyes of Ara, in which you move a series of rotating rings in order to form a picture. In this section, we'll discuss the logical basis of the solution.

First, let's get some designations for the 4 movable rings. We'll call the rings A, B, C, and D, lettering from the outside in.

Next, we'll write down what each ring moves:

So, each ring moves itself and at least one other ring. A moves C and D, B moves C, C moves A, and D moves B. That leads us to the diagram below:

Notice that A and C move one another, which is an important piece of this puzzle. If we use B to line up C with A, it will stay that way regardless of other movements. Once we've done that, we need to use D to fix B. Then we can use C to move itself and A into alignment with D. Once A, C, and D are all lined up with one another, we use A to put all three into their final position! The steps are detailed in the next section.

Part 2: Solution Steps
Step 0: Adjust the rings to see where B will ultimately go. We'll need this information later since B needs to be positioned without anything else being in the correct spot. I use the figure's nose as a guide since it lines up with the break between two stones on the outside of the painting.

Step .5 (Optional): If you want to reset your puzzle to the starting position, now is the time. This shouldn't be necessary since the solution is systematic and works from any starting point, but it may reassure you that you're doing it right. To reset, simply exit to the main menu and then go back in.

Step 1: Use ring B to align A and C. This is made easier by the diamonds on those rings, but make sure the chest is aligned with the head, otherwise it'll end up upside-down.

Step 2: Use ring D to put B in its final position (using the information we got earlier that the nose lines up with the break between the two stones).

Step 3: Use ring C to align A, C, and D with one another. This is fairly straightforward since you can easily see how D and C fit together, even though they are upside-down at the moment.

Step 4: Use ring A to move itself, C, and D into their final position! The screenshot taken here is after it is solved, I couldn't take a shot fast enough once I had them all in place.

I hope this helps someone!

You rock! I played this game on a tablet some time ago and this puzzle took me FOREVER, even with mapping what moved what. I did not have the heart to go through it again, running blind so your easy instructions were a big morale boost!
