• Very farm heavy -> take advantage of your mobility and escape tools to farm waves/ neutrals efficiently
  
• Know your limits on this hero. Who can kill you is very important in any given game or situation and help dictates farmable/playable regions of the map
  
• Swashbuckling through heroes will yield a bonus proc (extra swash tick) and often put you in an positional advantage in relation to the enemy. I believe this is more of a core gameplay concept than a trick
  
• Optimize your harass and roll start positioning and be careful of putting yourself in range of enemy skills ex. making sure you aren't in range of some random enemy spell ex. aether lens hex
  
• Play around ult CD and recognize kill situations. ex. teammate stunning an enemy mid hero playing too aggresively netting a free kill with swash->roll

7.32b UPDATED: I've been starting the game with quelling, ring of protection, 1 set of tangos and a bunch of branches. I can start with a stick instead depending on the lane. Usually I'll ferry myself a stick, regen, and often an oov and boots to finish orb of corrosion (ooc) before I send out my arcanes. Treads just allow you to punish harder when going on enemies with ooc. Regardless of the items, sending an extra set of tangos w/clarities when you get your items is REALLY IMPORTANT if you have extra money or extra gold to sustain and make trades. Make sure you buy raindrops depending on the lane and look to upgrade stick and then I've been going diffu -> blink. I think the offlaner in Dota serves a specific purpose that changes every game. I change builds a lot depending on how much catch we have (maybe need vlads or urn or faster blink) but I think blink is much more core as of late since you end up rolling for longer from a recent patch and generally as an offlaner having catch is more important than an increase in damage
Start with 2 branch, quelling, fairie fire and tangos and just rush bottle. Try to secure every CS to get bottle pre2minutes and optimize harass on enemy heroes with your W while also getting CS. Aim for a blight into orb of corrosion asap and make sure you buy clarities too. Look to rotate with runes and farm until you can buy your diffu. You can upgrade to treads or arcanes before or after the diffu depending on how much fighting you're doing. Echo is no longer an item that procs on swash so we're going with a basher or blink rush after the diffu. Tanky heroes that rely on burst to kill you will make you understand why diffu is so good to chase them down. Aso look at your draft to assess lockdown, if blink is needed to kill them, you can buy it

Please don't forget to continue ferrying yourself clarities + regen as you need it.
Next item will likely be a basher or a blink dagger. Hitting this item timing with diffu before 20 minutes is REALLY good. This is how I usually determine how well the game is going. On offlane pango especially, since increasing the duration of roll, I find survivability items to become a lot stronger as you'll spend more time in teamfights rolling around. Take a close look at the game to determine if you'd rather have blink+shard+lotus instead of diffu or other items.
Note: I also think aghs is really bad since the change to his shield crash duration going from 2s->2.5s. Definitely look at the game state before buying your item. Blink can be a complete game changer on catching a morph/storm or other mobile hero before you chain your rolls off walls to kill him especially in combination with pango's shard to CC heroes for longer durations

I look at the game and typically choose between basher/blink/bkb (basher might help kill jugger/aghs might give more damage/bkb really good against maybe an ember+dark willow lineup/linkens could be really good against a bloodseeker or heavily single spell targeting lineup). Aghs used to be prefered but now the item is much worse with the talent nerfs so I think bashing people is much nicer. The abyssal upgrade is crazy strong especially enabling you to blink onto enemies if you're rooted while rolling (ex puck/tree).

From here on take a look at the state of the game for future purchases. You'll learn that just staying alive in the teamfight is sometimes all it takes to win. For example, an aeon disk against a faceless void w/chronosphere could save the game. Sometimes I find linkens to still be possible too depending on the game but alike greaves, it's a MASSIVE money sink. Another massive tip is be sure to evaluate your net worth before you buy items. If you're buying some 30 minute diffusal it is too late imo. If you've had a bad game I'll typically go blink dagger or something else to try and disable enemy cores more in teamfights

You can generally get away with any items on Pangolier later in the game depending on what you need. I generally choose between linkens, skadi, mkb, aeon, shivas depending on how the game is going (you could even buy an AC if you think your team needs it). While the swashbuckle CD talent is very good, your mana will drain very quickly. Items may include - Abyssal, mael, bots, diffusal, shivas, blink. I still wish I loved aghs as much as the good ol' days where you coul dget the 2s shield crash during roll :(

• I believe there are only few heroes pango must itemize against, otherwise I do my best to play around spells and create as much chaos/deal as much damage as possible
• If you need a bkb, just buy it. It's almost essential depending on the game ex ember spirit, treant, grimstoke, ect... At least it's better than buying auras
• Your build is very squishy but you deal ALOT of damage/cc. obv no one wants to die but try your best to not die still :v
• I'm a firm believer in pango's disable/bash's ability to compensate for what another defensive item would offer your team. Don't let your team boss you around if they tell you to buy pipe

I generally take what I can get. Really good items are ones that give mana regen - net, essence ring. Lifesteal can be great too and mind breaker is basically a 1100g javelin

1. You can extend the duration of your ultimate with your Shield Crash. Try rolling in demo and press shield crash as your ult is about to end
   
2. If you shield crash while rolling, you can swashbuckle to a location to finish your roll immediately and cause shield crash resolve in that location
   
3. Swashing through enemies or creeps deals one extra swash of dmg
   
4. There is a cool mechanic where you can control exactly where you want to go after bouncing off a wall regardless of the terrain. This trick can be complete by issuing a movement command at the exact point of collision and allows you to bounce in a different direction
