You disable discord overlay you fools
It breaks the game
thats pretty much it just disable the overlay and you're good bois

UPDATE: since some of you are dinguses and cant figure out how to change a setting
HERES WHAT YOU DO

GO TO SETTINGS
OVERLAY
AND DISABLE IT

Update 2: electric boogaloo
If you just want to not have to keep turning overlay on and off
go to discord settings
game activity
find the game and click on the pc lookin icon to disable overlay just for that one game

if some other weird ass ♥♥♥♥ is happening to your game
this game might not work well with linux idk
verifying files sometimes works
fresh install is also a good option
make sure you dont have some weird ass settings on
sometimes mods do some funky ♥♥♥♥
or just the game hates you, it can throw a hissy fit for no reason

It's the steam cloud that's causing it. Disabling it and deleting the cloud save will make it work again. (Especially if you are playing remastered)

is this for when you open the game it gives you a black screen and crashes or when you go into a match it gives you a black screen then starts? I have the first one and I did try to disable steam overlay

Well in that case I'd say update/reïnstall your drivers, repair game files or try disabling steam overlay.
You could also wait a year until you're 13. good things come to those who wait.
