Introduction
The Magic update was the largest update to the game to date, and was introduced during Early Access in April 2017.

With this update the magic system of the game was overhauled, and enchantment of weapons and armor was introduced.

In this guide I will try to cover the basics of these features.
Enchantments
ShoHashi created this introduction video to the enchantment update to the game. The details about enchantments is from 3.00 to 7.00.

Unlike spells, you do not control when enchantments are triggered.

Enchantments on armor has a chance to trigger when you are hit by an enemy, and weapon enchantments has a chance to trigger when you hit the enemy.

A word of advice when you enchant your own gear or equip enchanted gear that you have found

Make sure to check and understand what the enchantments does, see paragraph about gems and their effects below.

You do not want effects that harm your self or helps your enemy.

Some examples of enchants to avoid:
  • Heal on Touch, Projectile or Square
  • Fire, Poison or Lightning damage on self
Spellcrafting
You can craft your own spells using Spell Disk and Spell gems which can be looted or bought from Magic shops in towns.

For a detailed spell crafting guide, see this link:

Spell crafting guide[www.gameskinny.com]

Crafted spells can be linked to hotkeays 1-9 from the spell menu, which can be entered by clicking the SPL button in the bottom of the screen.

For an overview of spell gems effects, see the section below.
Overview of Gems and their use in enchantments and spellcrafting
Any enchantment containing a Gold crystal impacts you. Any other target crystal affects something else.. usually your enemy, but could also be a trap or a door.

Gems come in 3 different sizes (3, 5, and 7), along with a quality designation.

Gem quality does not impact enchantments, as they're permanent. Crafted spells have a limited number of uses before they disappear, unless they are made from perfect gems.

All the gems must be the same size, but there is no other restriction

Enchantments do not use mana, spells do.

A spell/enchantment recipe must have at least three gems:

Target, Effect and Power Gems

Target Gems
Crystal Color Target Comment
GOLD Self Directly affects your character
SILVER Touch Anything in direct line of sight, immediately in front of you
COPPER Projectile Travels multiple squares in a straight line, direction it is cast, one square wide.
BRONZE Square Traps or source spells. Affects square directly in front of you
DIAMOND Carry over Only applicable to spells, as requires more than three crystals. Small chance of spell to be extended
TUNGSTEN Blast Area of effect. Travels out and forward multiple squares in direction it is cast.

Effect Gems
Crystal Color Effect Comment
RUBY Fire Burns
QUARTZ Manipulate Open, Disarm etc..
EMERALD Poison
AMETHYST Force Push back from you.
CITRINE llusiion inspire fear.
OPAL Lightning Electrifies
GARNET Shield Protection
TOURMALINE Heal Increase HP

Uncertain how the power gem impacts spell/enchantment other than potentially total damage or number of turns it remains active. With crafted spells, higher power gems require more mana to cast.

Some quick examples
Target = Gold (Self), Effect = Tourmaline (Heal), Power crystal = Heal Self.
Target = Silver (Touch), Effect = Ruby (Fire), Power Crystal = Burning touch
Target = Copper (Projectile), Effect = Opal (Lightning), Power crystal = Ball lightning
Target = Gold (self), Effect = Garnet (Shield), Power Crystal = Stone Skin
Target = BRONZE (Square), Effect = Emerald (Poison), Power Crystal = Poison Trap
Target = TUNGSTEN (Blast), Effect = Ruby (Fire), Power crystal = Fire blast
