Important information
To get all achievements you need at least 2 walkthroughs, but as you will doing different quests on 2nd one it wont be that repetitive, it will be if you not doing Hermit first.!

My native language isn't english but i believe it is enough good so all my sentences should be understandable to anyone. Feel free to correct extreme grammar errors via comments or feel free to add additional information if you think the guide wasn't clear. I'll try to update the guide always as fast as i can. Thanks

If the guide helped you any way please respect my work, my time spent on it and hit thumbs up for the guide, eventually follow my curator:-)

This guide was created by Average Achievement Curator group.

Follow my curator if you like to see achievement related informations (completion time, difficulty to get all achievements) on store page of the games.

https://store.steampowered.com/curator/30168383-Average-Achievement-Hunter/

The curator group dont mark any game as recommended so it shows useful information about achievements on the store page of the games without influencing the main store page of steam with recommendations + all games sorted to lists based on expected completion times. No point not to follow!:-)
Nonwalkthrough related achievements
Some of the achievements listed in walkthroughs could fit to here too but as those lock out hermit walkthrough achievements i don't list them here to avoid confusion.

Carpenter
Nailed 20 boards.

Impossible to miss. You will use nails when repairing your cabin right next to your home, outside, or when earning money at Emerson with the very same job.

Forager
Picked 20 edible plants.

One way to collect food is foraging. Some bushes has riped fruits on it, just collect them 20 times. Please keep in mind this not available at every seasons. You can find one such bush right outside of your cabin, when you leave it to the right.

Archaeologist
Found 20 arrowheads.

There are shining objects on the ground all around the map. If you pick up one then you get some information about environment, story etc. Pick up 20 and the achievement is unlocked, there are millions out there so very easy one.

Woodchopper
Chopped 20 logs.

Another trivial one, just get fuels 20 times at any stump which has an axe on it. On 2nd day you will get a mail from Emerson who telling you he will share an axe with you. Go to the house of Emerson, front of it there is a stump and the axe is near of it, left mouse click to pick it up, after that you can "farm" fuel at many stumps around the world where you also see an axe (for example right outside of your Cabin)

Fisherman
Caught 20 fish.

Once you got your fishing pole simply catch 20 fish. First time you inspect a fishing spot (at the shore right next to your cabin and next to the fireplace at the shore) it will be told to you where you left your fishing rod and the location will be marked on your map too. Once picked it up you can fish at any fishling location.

Tailor
Mended 20 seams.

Your cloth is inside of your cabin which need to be fixed from time to time. Do it 20 times.

Bean Farmer
Harvested 20 bean plants.

Check the map for the bean field. Dig out the weed, plant the bean on first day. On the following 2 day you need dig out weed again and then you need wait another 3 days until you can harvest your beans. Do it 20 times (you can raise more than 20 plants at the same time).

Journal Keeper
Wrote entries about 100 objects in your journal.

This isn't as trivial achievement as it looks. Right click zoom on objects and if it's something interesting you get a popup window which tells information about that object. You need inspect that way 100 different objects. It isn't easy but here is a small help: Inspecting the same object (nature) at different seasons will give different journal entries most of the time.

Sailor
Took 20 boat rides.

This is tricky and boring. First it is tricky because the first few times when i took a boat ride a popup window came up and asked where i want to go. Then after a few times that popup window never showed up and found myself at the middle of the lake and had no clue what to do. Game not provided direct information what should i do, i thought it is a big. HOWEVER, if you inspect the shore with your right click you can make that travel window to pop which let's your complete your boat ride and get this achievement.

Saunterer
Walked 20 miles.

Sojourner
Walked 50 miles.

These achievements are ♥♥♥♥♥♥. You need walk a LOT, it require pointless farming, even 2 walkthroughs not enough to get 50. I got the 20 miles at the end of my hermit walkthrough as not much to do there and walked/ran a lot and was skating on ice without doing anything else during winter months.

Skating count and a faster way to travel, sadly only available during winter and not even at full winter.

You need to get the 50miles on a SINGLE save, so you need keep playing the game and farm, run, skate, for a looooong time.
Hermit Walkthrough
In this walkthrough you not allowed to enter the city, never ever. Make a save at early autumn and at late autumn. Make sure you have at least 10,50usd at early autumn, you can get money by collecting the toys each day at Emerson's house and by using the workshop at the same location or by harvesting your bean field if your food supply is full.

Transcendentalist
Found all of Emerson's books.

Emerson will give you a quest to get some books for him. The location of the books will be marked on the map always so nothing hard about this. As you can't enter the city in this walkthrough this is the only questchain you can do in this walkthrough.

Scrooge
Never opened any of your Christmas presents.

The house of your family is located inside the town so if you don't go there this achievement will unlock at the beginning of Midwinter.

Good Friend
Eased Emerson's grief by collecting young Waldo's toys after his death.

Waldo, son of Emerson will die during winter. I think it was midwinter or late winter when you can do this achievement. Just go to Emerson's house and collect all toys, inside and outside of the house. You can do this at every day to get some money but at the last time, when Waldo already died and you collect all (4-6, random) then you get the achievement. The toys are easy to find.

Self-Reliant
Never bought anything at the General Store.

This achievement unlocks at the first spring day if you never went to town and never bought anything in general store. You can't find food during winter, without buying extra food jar you can't reserve enough food for winter but don't be afraid, you can't die in the game, even if you don't have food during the whole winter you can get to spring and get this achievement:-)

Edit:
developer comment: "There are two plant types you can pick in the winter months. Check out the books on Emerson's table for a list of pickable plant types, as well as the seasons they are pickable, for more info."

I actually found this out too on my second walkthrough, the red colored brush at winter can be harvested for food, there is one close to the workbench of your house.

Hermit
Never went into town.

This will unlock at the beginning of the last day, late spring, if you never visited the town.

Second Summer
Began a second year in the woods.

Every time a day ends you can choose where to start the next day, at your cabin, the location where you were etc. Once it is Summer again you can choise "leave Walden Pond". Don't select that one, choise any of the other for this achievement.

Good Son
Helped your family by paying your father's bills.

Load your early autumn save, go to the city and go to the general store. You can pay family debts 10,50 usd there. Once done achievement unlocked. Why is it listed in this walkthrough? You can do it in the other walkthrough too but there you will need your money for something else so save before and load game back.

Activist
Went to jail in protest.

There will be a notice at the entrance of your cabin during summer-autumn that you need to pay your tax. It is 9usd. Load your late autumn save and go to the city, as you not paid your tax you will be jailed. If you don't get to jail then it is possible that you need wait one more day as jail unlocks only upon second town visit.
Second walkthrough
Naturalist
Found all of Dr. Agassiz's specimens.

Inside your cabin, on the small deck there should be a mail from Dr. Agassiz on first or second day. Read it. When you go to Concord on third day (perhaps it will be there later too), inside the post office you should have an incoming mail at your name Thureau, which is from Agassiz, inwhich he asking 8 fishes from you, from 3 different type of fishes. Just fish them all up at any fishing location (i got all at the fishing spot closest to your Cabin) and select the option to send it to Dr. Agassiz instead to adding to your own food reserves.

Second part:

Once finished you will get a new mail to post office in a day or two however when i finished fishing, went to Concord post office and the mail was already there with the next part of the quest, which asks you to collect:

3 Mice
2 Hare
1 Fox
1 Mink

Weird bug, that you can submit and send same animal to Agassiz twice, so you need to find Hare only once and Mice twice. There are other places you can find animals but i nearly always find required animals at these locations:

Third part:

Agassiz now asks for turtle eggs. These can be found at the shore at warm months. Which is actually any season except Winter. I was able to find some at lat autumn but as next day was already winter i needed to wait until spring for next ones. I interacted with a total of 7 turtle egg nests until it was enough. I don't know if the locations are random or not, just explore the shore, here is the map with the marked locations where i found the eggs:

Taxpayer
Paid back taxes.

On 3rd day there will be a not on your cabin that you need pay tax. Go to Concord, General Store, interact with merchant, select Household tab and choice pay taxes. It will be 9usd.

Poet
Found all of Sophia's poems.

On 3rd day you will get a mail from your sister. She will invite you to some mission to find her poems. The first which will start the questchain will be located in Concord in the house of your parents, it is marked as a flower on the map. Next steps of the quests marked on the map too with the same flower symbol. At the locations you will find always some resources and a new trivia which leads to the next location (but as it is on the map not really need to figure out the location).

Abolitionist
Completed all of Alcott's deliveries.

Alcott will send some supplies to your cabin (it will be on your bed) which required to be delivered to some box where runaway "slaves" can get these supplies. As one of the delivery is required to enter the city you can't finish this on the Hermit walkthrough. On other hands the achievement unlocked for me when i finished the missed one so each steps need to be completed but not in the same game.

Surveyor
Surveyed Walden Pond.

Quest start inside the post office, there is a note on the billboard about surveying. Picking it up start the quest. A dollar sign on map shows the location where you need to go and start the survey (use the placed item and target the already placed flag, you dont need to place anything). Once quest done you need to return to the post office and pick up the note for the next part of the quest. Repeat many times and at the very end you will get this achievement. This questchain takes a lot of running and time.

Townie
Spent an hour in town.

It is clear what to do. Probably don't need to be done in same walkthrough.

Published Author
Published all your manuscripts with Greeley and lectured in Boston.

Iam a bit confused about the first steps on this quest. I think you need read a letter inside of the house of your parents, in Concord. Then you will receive letter at the post office. Once you receive such letters from Greeley a manuscript will pop inside the house of your parents:

Deliver the item marked inside the red circle to the post office and interact with the outgoing mails to place it to there. Keep checking back to post office every day for new mails and if you got mail from Greeley then repeat this. After about 5 times you will be asked to move to Boston for lecture work. Buy a fashionable suit for 21usd at general store, pick up another manuscript from the same location right before and place it to the outgoing mails in post office (yeah, weird, this will count as a travel to Boston). Dont forget to pick up your money from post office 1-2 days later.

Edit, developer left a message about exact way picking up and starting the quest:
"Regarding the start of the 'Published Author' quest, you have to pick up the arrowhead in the Post Office, just inside the door. This does two things: 1) it delivers the first mail with details for the first part of the Agassiz (fishing) quest; and, 2) it surfaces another arrowhead in the Post Office, very near your mailbox. When you pick up this second arrowhead, that's when the first letter from Greeley gets delivered into your mailbox, which, when you pick it up, triggers the first step in the 'Published Author' quest."

Walden Millionaire
Earned $100.00.

You don't need to have 100$ at the same time, you need to earn that many in a single save. I got it around 71$, started with ~2$, spent $21 on fashionable suit and 9$ on tax and 2*0,5$ on extra food jars so: -2+71+21+9+1=100.
If you finish the Naturalist, Published Author and Surveyor achievemen quest in single save and you farm one full bean field you should be close to the 100, perhaps you need farm a bit more carpenter money at Emerson and loot the toys at same location eventually.

For the spring part of the Hermit run, there is year-round Groundnut available as thigh-high green-leafed shoots at the base of a large pitch pine. Find it on the map between the bases of the letters P and E in "Heywood's Peak."

Thanks for such a helpful guide!

In game time, it took about 4 and a half years before the achievement popped for walking 50 miles. I was becoming very bored waiting on that achievement.

Pretty solid guide, a little more info on the animal hunting would be great, I feel like I caught my first (2) hare by dumb luck and can't seem to catch any again.
