The History Of Codename-Gordon, and how to get it!
By The Cactuar
This is the history of Codename: Gordon, this is a translation of another guide, so the grammar may seem a bit odd. The reason I made this translation is because the original guide is gone, and was not English. I hope you enjoy the guide, and to be more educated on the development of Codename: Gordon.

History
Codename: Gordon (also known as Half-Life 2D) is a 2D electronic side-scrolling game made by Paul "X-Tender" Kamma and Sönke "Warbeast" Seidel. The game was produced on behalf of Nuclearvision Entertainment and was distributed free of charge through Valve Software's online Steam distribution system as a promotional title for the then-future Half-Life 2. The game has already been removed from the Steam Store due to factors related to developer failure/bankruptcy.

The game began as a fan project of Paul Kamma and Sönke Seidel, the concept being inspired by several Half-Life 2 ads. Soon after, the two began working on Codename: Gordon on behalf of Nuclearvision Entertainment. The company also introduced the game to Valve, the developer team of the original Half-Life series, which later distributed the game via Steam.

Codename: Gordon was generally well received by critics and the public, with the game attracting more than 600,000 players in the first three weeks after its release. Critics appreciated the game for its unique gameplay and dialog style, but also criticized for its undue optimization, and the lack of variety of opponents.

The bankruptcy was a problem because the dev's website is linked in the game. With the dev being bankrupt, the site was no longer owned and became unsafe to go to. That's why the game was taken down.

If you play the game, don't click the link.

Why this game is not in the official Steam store now?
The reason with the bankruptcy of the developer doesn't seem to be the main reason.
