1. Install this legacy nvidia driver (if you have a nvidia card) http://www.nvidia.com/content/DriverDownload-March2009/confirmation.php?url=/Windows/9.13.0604/PhysX-9.13.0604-SystemSoftware-Legacy.msi&lang=us&type=Other

2. Download this patch: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1iB4rHfOp1e933albiakXPoGJtsr42bV3/view?usp=sharing

3. Copy the contents of the patch to your game installation folder, in my case Steam\SteamApps\common\Faery - Legends of Avalon

* Note that you now have a faerysteam.exe and a faery.exe in this folder. Running faery.exe worked for me, but it bypassed steam completely (no steam overlays etc), so I renamed it faerysteam.exe to replace the origianl faerysteam.exe. Still won't get you achievements though.
