How to make the font size larger in ETW (And how to install any mod you want)
By Pytherex
This guide is to help people increase the font size so that they don't have to keep squinting to read the stuff in game and have to strain their eyes to hell to see.

This guide can also be used to install any other mod as long as you follow it.

How to make the font larger
Go here to download the font size mod -> http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?252620-Larger-fonts ( OR you can download it from my google drive here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1P5Fx9naQFDa3ReH4wEwT0_IkL6Yt77Z-/view?usp=drive_link ) In case you can't log onto the TWcenter

i. There are a few different sizes so choose which one you think would suit you.

1. Okay so now since you have downloaded the mod go to Steam> steamapps> common> Empire Total War> Data >

Now plop the file down in the Data folder and leave it there.

2. Then go to Users> "USERNAME" > Appdata > Roaming > The Creative Assembly> Empire > Scripts

(@Thanks to Cracktober for the updated fix, placed it here so people don't have to dig in the comments)

Make a copy of the "preferences.empire_script".txt file, change the name to "user.empire_script.txt" deleting the contents and replacing it with the correct script corresponding with the actual .pack file in the data folder.

In the file type the following ->
mod fonts2steplarger.pack;

(So depending on which font pack you downloaded you use that name in the following. So if the name of your font pack is "fontpack123.pack" then you would write the following "mod fontpack123.pack;" The name of the mod that I use is "fonts2steplarger.pack" so that's what I wrote.)

Save the file.

3. Now boot the game up and be happy that you don't need glasses anymore.

4. (Extra unnecessary step)
If you want to add more mods you can by doing the exact same thing to other mods, depending on the order you have them they are gonna load from top to bottom first, so if you have conflicts you'll have to flip them around.

Not sure why this isn't working for me. I downloaded the pack, followed all the instructions, etc. No luck. The game opens and everything but the font is still small.

Some comparison screenshots would be nice, as TWC is having issues at the moment.

Hello, me again. Your hint about the correct folder order was the solution. I had a second empire folder in the empire folder xD(probably because of the empire 2 mod, I guess) and then of course a second data folder, when I added the font pack there, it worked. Many thanks for your help!

Make sure you place the actual modpack in the right place in the data folder for Empire. (I've had folder directories be cause of error before)
Then make sure you get the spelling of the modpack and all right as well when you write the text part in user.empire_script.txt

I tested this guide myself a few months ago (as I do every now and then because they do update the game and break it sometimes). It should still work with no problems.

Hey, thx for the quick response! I'll check again later if I've made a mistake. It crashes only when I add the font pack into the user script. In terms of the order, is it correct to put the entry at the bottom of the list?

Yes it is compatible, your most likely mistake is forgetting a ; somewhere or look at the text files, if the game is not booting at all you probably made a mistake in one of the text files.
