Fight to the Death - Unbreakable Siege Defenders

Why?

So, in the original Rome Total War sieges were a little different (and i think Medieval 2 and Shogun 2 had this too, at least to some extent), defenders could rout, but they wouldn't try to escape the city, they would rout to the center plaza to make a last stand, and inside there they would fight to the death (unbreakable like a slayer or a flagellant). This mechanic was also present during battles, if you surrounded a group of soldiers in Rome and they had nowhere to go, they wouldn't rout, they would fight to the death. For me this makes even more sense in Warhammer, because you are not getting colonized if greenskins or skaven get the city, you are getting killed either way, might as well keep fighting.

This mod tries to do that, I can't really make them rout to the city center and all that, but siege defenders will be unbreakable inside the city, essentially I gave them a huge morale bonus to defenders so they can bypass even the army losses penalty.

The bonus only applies to defenders INSIDE THE WALLS, defenders outside will be just vulnerable to routing like any other battle. Regular battes will not be affected. Works with both AI and the player, as well as every race.

**TL;DR: Huge morale bonus so defenders won't rout.**

Is this compatible with mods that change/add new maps?
Compatible? yes, no problem with that.

Will it work? Well... It should, as long as the map author properly labeled the zone inside the walls as a fortification.

Conflicts
It should work with any mod unless of course they tried to increase defenders morale too, even so, load order should take care of that.

Is this mod save-game compatible?
The mod is save-game compatible.


UPDATE PLZ

This mod will never be out of date, it literally edits one number, still i will give it a fake update with every patch, but if I don't, it should still work. Keep in mind that it won't show as updated on steam because I don't need to make any changes.





Added a lite version for people who don't want them to be 100% unbreakable but still want defenders to last longer, with the lite version most injured units will break under the army losses penalty, ending the battle without having to wipe out every single unit.

I need this mod in tww3. I hate the idea of defenders routing in sieges both from an attackers and defenders viewpoint.

@SkavenDan Feel free to make a W3 version, all I did was increase a morale bonus defenders already had inside the walls and make it really high, i'm not playing W3 because I'm still waiting for them to fix the game.

So this needs adjusting before I will continue to use it, mainly because factions like Greenskins and Skaven really ought to abandon all hope and flee into the tunnels or forests or whatever, it's tedious as FUCK hunting down every last skavenslave in a siege and makes 0 sense. If you are able to adjust it so that certain factions do flee upon a siege being obviously lost then I would happily use the mod again

so the IA of warhammer 2 does send 1 squad to the plaza for an last stand but thats all sadly i was really mad with sieges of warhammer 2 he comes a long time before rome 2 and they throw back the sieges battles alot also there no more sea battles i love to do the boardings in rome thanks for the mod this make my gameplay better even if its not yet what i m after its the best we can get from warhammer 2 i didn't play warhammer 3 yet but i m hopping they make the sieges there better

The morale buff has the same effect basically, I'm sure the exact same thing could be done it's just a lot of work and I would have no idea how to even do it.

I tried playing warhammer 3 on release and it had too many issues including performance, then i upgraded my gpu recently, tried again and it runs great, however, the text seems really blurry at 1440p and I just can't figure out a way to make it better, the game still feels kind of unfinished after all this time.

+1 for putting some love to "wallless" faction and things .

Also do you think it's really impossible to make the mechanic like you described in older total war
in WH 2 ? What about WH 3 then ?

That would be sick to emulate that and should be in the base game like seriously.

Cause the a straight morale buff is just plain boring and a bit broken.
