During the War of the Shifting Sands, three dragons, the red Caelestrasz, the green Merithra of the Dream, and the blue Arygos sacrificed themselves to create the Scarab Wall and seal the Qiraji Empire. However, C'thun refused to remain idle. Emperor Vek'lor attempted to create a new, more powerful Obsidian Destroyer at the behest of his master, C'thun. His brother Vek'nilash wrought a grand body out of volcanic rock, and Vek'lor fortified it with his magic. Satisfied, he showed his creation to C'thun, who infused it with life. He named his new minion... Moam. While they expected it to be superior to other destroyers, they did not anticipate its extra abilities and extraordinary power far beyond what they thought it could be capable of. It was only after extended observation that they found out the source of its mysterious power - it was sapping energy from the three dragons trapped within the gates of Ahn'Qiraj. They were still alive, tortured, without the mercy of death. C'thun had bound the three dragons during the sealing, drained their energy, then corrupted it for his own use. His first example was in the fortification of Moam's power. This revelation stunned Vek'lor and Vek'nilash, and further deepened their loyalty and resolve.
