A note on Achievements
So first thing's first - Steam Achievements and how to get them.
================================================

Just play the game!... Simple as that!

(there is no Achievement info on how to get them - just play the game and you will randomly get them at certain milestones)

**IF anyone specifically knows how to get each Achievement then your input will be very welcome (i will even contribute you in this section)**
A note on Profits
**When I am discussing [Profits] or making a [profit] I am NOT explaining -**

- How to make Real currency through playing this Game!
- How to become a Prophet!

I am instead discussing one of the game-play mechanics on making [Virtual In-Game Credits] which have no intrinsic or monetary value in the Real World!

[Insert Smiley face here]
Basic Tips [Let's get serious now we have had a quick laugh]
Ok so, tongue in cheek aside ( although there MAY be more humour throughout)...

- It does not matter (currently) what your *Home Planet* looks like - the terrain and flora/fauna have absolutely no bearing on how you will play the game - If you want to start on Terran then do so, if you want to start on a Rocky planet, do so :)

- Start SMALL and SLOW! (you don't want to deplete your starting Credits in the first five minutes, the game would be over anyway :) )

- DO NOT promote to Officer as soon as you get the notification!!! (not only will you NOT be able to cater to their needs until you have the research available - Officers; once promoted, will be *Locked Out* of Specific jobs) You have been warned!!!

- After you have finished exploring a Planet or System you only need ONE crew member to run an *Auto-Pilot Resource Collection* (ARC)

- DO NOT research *Visitors* early (well... you can... but to make the profits effective you need to make sure you can cater for them first) Not only do they eat your food and drink your water (for a price), they will also not pay much at all - and as a final note... they EAT A LOT!!! (research it as early as you like - just DO NOT place the *Visitor Dock* until you are READY!)
**NOTE** I have found out (through research - not in game research!) that you can LOCK areas to CREW only (click doors, only allow CREW and lock VISITORS out - that way they wont eat/drink your precious resources!)

- Make sure you have multiple kitchens (food/water processors) ... Yes... as soon as possible! (you will need the Basic Rations for Trade as well as your Crew at home!)

- When Bernice comes to the station - as SOON as she asks you to do *X* PAUSE THE GAME! And get your Crew to do *X* (if it is currently possible) - Don't worry too much about this event... Its only bonus Credits (you do not lose anything for failing the event)

- Remember the is a World outside your window! (take regular breaks from game-play and get some air every once in a while! Just make sure you are parked on a Planet with an Atmosphere first...)

- Always keep an eye on your Goals Menu (looks like a Chalice on top right) you will get bonus credits for completing these

- Whenever you explore a planet, kill aggressive entities - you will sometimes get loot for doing so.

- Grab boxes near buildings when exploring planets (some will hold resources/loot others will have a small amount of Credits (you will know when the inventory is full because you will not be able to pick up any more loot, they will deliver this once the get back home)

- The reason why i tell you (below) to build 3 GE's (General Extractors) on planets which can accommodate them is because this speeds up the resource collection ;) (the tutorial only tells you to build one)

- When in doubt, read the in-game guide *??* top right

**Added Tips**

- Be aware: Deleting/removing rooms/items/objects **Do not (that i have noticed) return any materials or Credits - be careful with original placements!**
A Note on [some] Events...
The notes that follow are the only events i have personally encountered...

- Bernice: This epic Lady is the Stations PR Rep (essentially) she will periodically visit and inspect
your station and if you can complete her bonus objective/s then you will get a TON of bonus credits
(as i say above, once she asks you to do *X* pause the game and abide her wishes - remember, it
does not matter if you fail the bonus - you just won't get any extra
dough/dosh/cash/paper/credits/coin etc)

**If she asks you to build *X* amount of floor tiles, try to complete it, once it is complete and you have the credits (or even if you failed) feel free to delete the room tiles (unless you want to use them)**

- The visiting Chef: This event can be ignored (it plays out automatically)
A Chef will come to your station for Five minutes of game time (dependant on game speed) and as
long as you have the goods available he will drastically increase your Basic Rations/Food output for
the duration.

- Lilly (The Dog): Lilly (i think that's her name - NOPE its Liberty) will also come periodically.
All the time she is at the station, everyone who is near her (Crew AND Visitor alike) will get a
*Happiness* bonus.

- Pirates: (i only encountered these in PreTest 3.13 - i have not yet experienced them in non-beta
3.12 - this does not mean the event does not happen in both so be on guard even if playing 3.12)
Pirates will only appear once you visit and extract resources from another system
**IGNORE THIS EVENT UNLESS YOU ARE READY!** (you will have to liberate the Planet/System
in question by killing them BUT if you do, they will invade YOUR station and unless you are ready it
will be GAME OVER!)

There will also be various other *random* events at Home - such as *Some visitors/Crew Members
have Food Poisoning* (make sure you have a Doctor's Desk/Medical bed and Medical Supplies)

Other events which may happen in your play-through are self explanatory

**Added event/s**

When you get a notification about a machine needing repair do not worry too much (if you are currently away from Home - as long as you have enough Crew on Planet it will be repaired in time - or just click the notification to directly zoom Home and focus on the machine in question and Force Repair on it)

The Miasma Cloud - again, as long as you have enough Crew this shouldn't bother you too much (just make sure you have a Doctor, Medical Beds and Pills (they will get sick from the fumes)

**the final sentance above *Miasma Cloud* - to stop them from happening/happenign as often... make sure you have at least one recycler because then they can dispose of rotten stuff/dead bodies ;)
Stage One - Let's Build a Station!
NOTES - OK so, everyone plays their game the way they wish to play it, all i am teaching in this Guide is how i *personally* enjoy playing and what i have found works for *Me*
=========================================================

Ok, so since you are reading this section I am assuming that you have first Purchased, Installed and loaded the game? (Don't come back until you do - You dirty Pirate!!!) And that you are now actually in game, looking at a box full of *???'s* (this is the tutorial - for the purposes of this Guide we will be ignoring it completely)

So do me a favour and Close that box ;) ... Yup, there we go... Nice one!

So, now i have your express attention...

Take a look at the Tools on the Left Side of the screen (we will be ignoring the ones at the top - for now) come back here once you have explored each one.

OK - since you now know what a Floor Tile is... Wait... What do you mean *What the heck is a Floor Tile*? (don't come here until you have read the above Paragraph dummy!)

Ehem, sorry about that... Right... Floor Tiles...
Ok, find a nice spot (big open land is good - as you cannot build on water!) Now lay 9 squares (3x3) of *Clean Cubicle* (we will be leaving *Barn Nostalgia* for Corridors only!) and then another 3x3 with a one space gap next to the first.
Now find the Wall Tool and grab the Alluminium one - now, encase your 12 squares with the walls (so all four sides are enclosed) *You can build doors (Security tab in the Build Menu) directly onto the walls - you do not need to leave a gap for them*

Once they have finished building everything build one *Kitchen* and two *Pallets* in each room - (you might want to build 2 Kitchens in each - i leave that up to you).
Once they have again finished building everything, you want to set one Kitchen to Produce *Filtered Water* and the other to Produce *Basic Rations* (queue both of these up as *Infinite*)
With the Pallets in the Water Kitchen you want one to stock Water and the other to stock Filtered Water - with the other 2 in the Food Kitchen you want one to stock Fruits and the other to stock Basic Rations.

Now, (continue to build where you want, to your personal specifications) you want to build a *Dinner*- to do so build a nicely sized room (i would go for at least an 8x8 minimum) with Clean Cubical. Once the walls/floors and doors have been placed go back into the *Food* menu and build 1x Basic Rations service station as well as 1x Filtered Water station. You also need Canteen Tables (lay them as you would see them in any American Dinner - You are also aiming for at least 2 x rows of 4 ... for now)

Now we want to build a *Storage Room* to do so, follow the above rule for *Room Building* (this can be any size you prefer and you WILL need to extend/build others the further you progress - They only have a limited capacity per Stack! Once all Floor/Wall Tiles and Doors have been built go into the Facilities Menu and lay the Storage Block (you cannot place it until the room is *Fully Enclosed* - this also works for other specific rooms) **You can choose whichever floor you like for the Storage but NOTE tiles with more Aesthetics cost more to place (i generally use Neat Workshop for all Storage/Workshop facilities)

Now we want a *Public* Bedroom. For this we want at least another 8x8 room (floor should be Crystal Palace) and we want enough space for (at least) 6 beds. Once this room (and all the others) have been completed we now want to explore our *Home System*.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Stage Two - Exploration!
FIRST BUILD 2x OFFICER DOCKS (Facilities Menu - and have both of your ships use them to land)
========================================

Ok. So now we have the beginnings of a Station To Be Proud Of (STBPO) we want to turn our gaze to the skies above - or in this case the Menu at the top of the screen.

Click the Button with the *Swirly Thing* (located directly next to the Button which looks like a House) This is the Galaxy Map - Once again explore the Buttons on the Left Side of the screen - then come back here once you have found which one shows the Planetary Resources.

Now you should be able to tell at a glance which Planet holds which Resource (your Starting System/Home System in any play-through will have exactly the same Resources on exactly the same Planets (Tutoland will always have Fruits) the only thing which will/may be different are the Planet names.

First off we want to explore *Tutoland* - to do so grab your Explorer (again ship names are *Random*) Not only does it have bigger Cargo Hold than the Intervention, it also (generally speaking **i have had a few games where the Intervention has only had one Crew Member at start of game**) has more Crew Members... When i say Grab... I mean *Pick up the ship and drag it on to Tutoland*. Once your Ship is in Orbit click Tutoland and then click the *Explore* button.

Now you will see a screen which looks similar to your *Home Station* - First you want to Pause the game and Zoom all the way out so you can see a lot more. Now look to the Left again and once more you will see how the *Tool* menu has changed. Go into the *Build Menu* and click *Delivery Station*. Place this near to grouped buildings so you can achieve a faster Profit % (the best is always where the Galaxy Map Artefact is - unless there is specifically more grouped buildings in another location - the GMA gives 250% as standard). Then go back into the Build Menu and grab Recruitment Centre (placement does not matter - i do not think) and a General Extractor - Now, with the game still Paused look for all three *Fruits Nodes* (ignore the smaller ones) and place one G.E on each of them.

Once you have placed the Ghost of all the buildings press [ESC] and then the *1* key (this will now centre on and activate your *Crew* - There will now be a new Menu at the bottom of the screen (you will have *RMB* - this is the *Right Mouse Button to Walk* button; then, you will see a Heal and/or Shield button and then a Teleport button.) Press T (Teleport) and left click near the furthest Building which you placed and Un-Pause the game (the other member/s will walk off to build another building - you can only have one build one building at any given time) If there were any creatures you saw while the game was Paused make sure these are *Dealt with* before you start building.

Once all buildings have been placed find the Delivery Station and set it to *Basic Rations*. Now you can *Buy* the Galactic Map Artefact (which will give you new star charts for further exploration) click the button on the Left *Take Off* (if you have not set the *DS* to deliver any goods it will give you a warning).

**Added Info** - I would also recommend building at least one Storage on Tutoland, the one with the Water and the one with the Aluminum - they increase planetary resource storage by 50 - this not only means that you will get more good per trip, it also means that you ship will fill up quicker and not hang around too long waiting to fill its Hold.

Once we are in space again do the above steps for every planet in the system (you only need one Recruitment centre per System).
Once you have Explored all the planets and placed all the DS (leave every other DS empty... for now) and GE stations you want to Click the ship once more and you will see a Menu box on the screen.

You now want to create an ARC (Auto-Pilot Resource Collection route) -We do so by following these steps...

Click the first button in the menu to *Add* a route - choose Tutoland first, then do the same for (this is personal preference) ONE water Planet, ONE Alluminium Planet and the rest. Then drag the Ship back to Home Planet and go into the Fleet menu (top of screen, looks like a Shuttle Icon) and Right Click on all Crew Members apart from one. Then go back to he Galaxy Map and click the big PLAY button to the right. - Now that ship will automatically collect the resources (until the hold is full) and then return home once they have off-loaded and rested the Pilot will start the run again.

Now we have a ton of supplies coming in, but what to do with them???
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Stage Three - Trade and Research!
Ok, so. Now we are focused back on our Home Planet we need to do a few more things...

Trade
====

Look to the Left again... OTHER LEFT! (Amatures!) and find the *Inventory* button, use this to keep an eye on your Fruits/Basic Rations supplies for a few minutes (speed depending) - Once you have (at least) 15 x BR's we can start trading (i say 15 as a guideline only - you don't want to leave your Crew Members at home with nothing to eat! **But once you have a bigger Surplus, you can add to this as you wish**).

To do so, click the *Civs* button (top of screen) - it looks like a Globe. Ignore Crustians (or whatever they are called) for now and click on *Humans* (explore the rep and etc first if you want, i won't hold it against you). Now we want to go into the *Sell Export* menu.

Here you will see two lists, the one on the left is the supplies they are wanting and the *maximum* price they will *currently* buy at - the one on the right is your *Profit* list. Click Basic Rations (list on the left) and see how the list on the right changes.

You *should* now see Basic Rations (middle of screen) with PRICE/REP and an ARROW *>* and the goods being exported, and a ship icon.

Click the Pencil (Edit) button in the list on the right and as long as you have 16+ type 15 - Now just wait until *their* margins are at a price you would like (this will only ever show the *best* buy price the Civ is willing to pay *Currently* - this is dependant on S&D and also Rep - it also becomes lower if you have just sold to them or your ship has just collected Fruit or any resource that you are wanting to sell) and then click *Start Delivery* (game speed dependant).

WOOT!!! You have now sold your first order and made your first profit!

**NOTE** Delivery will only start once/if a Ship is docked at home - It is also a *one off* (meaning you will have to manage this yourself every time you want to issue the trade!)

Research
=======

If you haven't done so already, build another room with (at least) 2x Research Desks (Facilities Menu) - Now we look to the top of the screen again and we click the *Final Button on the Left* (looks like a *Splat*)

Although research in this game is (in my opinion) Personal Choice, there are a few *Rules*

You can only Research one thing at a time (Regardless the amount of Desks you have, multiple desks just speed it up)

I would recommend researching Health and Hygiene first (feel free to look at all the researchables as they will explain what you get in way of Recipes and Input/Output machines and Misc Items etc)

**I also tend to *buy* all the cheaper researchables first, just so i have the basics of all of them**

Now we continue onward to Doctors/Showers/ETC
Stage Four - Health/Hygiene and In Closing
Health and Hygiene
===============

(if you did not choose this as your first research, come back here once it has been completed)

Ok so now you have it researched we need to build a few rooms (as near to/or next to each other as possible).

First we want to build our Soap and and Medical Stations (make sure these are in their own room! - This just generally speeds it up and saves on Land Space)
Now build 4x pallets in the above machine room (one will stock Oils, another will stock Slime, another for Pills and the last for Basic Soap)

Now we build a Doctor's Office (only needs to be big enough for the desk and a few aesthetics) and preferred floor here is *Pristine Tiles* (if you have not researched this yet - can't remember what research the tiles are in - use Clean Cubical instead)

Once the Doctor's Office has been built you want to build a *Sick Bay* with at least 4 Medical Beds at minimum (it will be used by Crew and Visitors both) and at least 1x Medical Dispenser.

Once all of this is done every sick person will be healed (where possible!)

I forgot to mention the showers huh... >.>... ok so the mechanics of showers *Hygiene 3000* is very simple. - It is better (but not essential) to have one shower per its own room (due to noise and aesthetic value) - Although it will be ok if you want to group 2 or more per room. Once you have built (at least) 4 showers and a Soap Machine (you will find the Soap Machine in the Facilities menu - if you have not already built one during the above steps, do so now) set the order to create 60 > 100 soap (You should have enough oils/slime coming in to cater for this amount) - The Crew will automatically stock the showers as needed as long as you have soap available. Now your Crew (and Visitors) will use them as needed.

**Notes on Showers** I have found a tiny bug which happens once showers have been placed - sometimes no one will use them (not even visitors) until you reload the game (or) you promote an Officer (or) you build a motel (it is a random ocurance which one it will be - they will not *all* happen in the same playthrough and they don't even happen in all play-throughs (i tested this bug 7 times **New Games** and it only happened 4 times)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Promoting - Priorities - and In Closing
==================

To promote Officers just keep an eye out for the Yellow/Gold notification and either click the notification or go into the Staff Menu (which will be yellow/gold as long as you have people to promote... DO NOT jump to promote as soon as it appears, they need specific things first!)

All Officers will need his/her own room with a Master Officer Bed, Crystal Palace Flooring (for minimal aesthetics) Optionals are *Rug* (depending on Officer) *Wardrobe* and *Locker* (the Officer Rooms only need to big enough to accommodate the officer and his/her aesthetics value)

**The lay-out - although this does not matter - should be the same for every other officer you promote (this is only to keep everything nice and tidy)**

DO NOT Put a shower directly in an Officers bedroom (or any bedroom for that matter) unless its in its own WC in the bedroom - although this will not matter much to start with, the noise of the shower will wake your officers/guests up (although they will eventually go back to sleep - it will be difficult)

As i say in the Basic Tips section above, once you promote an officer they will be limited to what they can work on/with, so be sure you want to promote before you do.

If you are running low on Crew/Staff at home or for your ships just recruit others from the *Staff* tab (top of screen) but be warned, each new recruit will demand a bigger *Signing Bonus*!

**Note on Recruitment** although i have not personally tested this mechanic i assume it might be a good idea to build at least 2 RC's in every system (this may make the recruitment faster and might even give you a more varied option - as i say, i have not tested this theory **yet**)

Priorities
======

I have not messed with this much, but if you want to *organize* yourself better than i did you want to set specific Crew Members to specific Priorities - You can find the Priority list on the left Menu (looks like a Check-List) - NOTE - As you can see (if you have any Officers) some priorities will be locked out.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In Closing
=======

- Research only what you want to focus on/need
- Do not place the Visitor Dock unless you are ready to do so! - It is also best to only place one at a
time otherwise you will run out of Inventory FAST! (Visitors will bring more and more
credits to your station depending on various factors [Have you got a Souviner Shop, a place
where the can eat, shower, sleep, heal have fun? etc] The more you supply/cater for your guest,
the more expensive it becomes, the more staff you will need to recruit, the more docks you will
need, the more profit you will receive
- Don't forget to explore other Systems as you need to! (sooner or later your Fruits from Tutoland
(and other supplies) will not give you what you will need)
- Explore slowly - you don't want to have both your ships running around the Galaxy on ARCs
while only having 5 people at home!
- Build more ships as you need them (needs to be researched first) This will help speed up your
exploration.

Now get out there and take over the galaxy!!!!! ... errr... i mean... *help your fellow neighbours and be a first class guy!

**If you wish to know more or if i haven't explained something to your liking please comment below and either myself or someone might be able to explain further**

**And above all else? THANK YOU Weird and Wry for this amazing and (albeit at times) frustrating game !**

Thank you for reading!
Further info on making profits
This comes from Tman's questions - but will help others also...

sorry i haven't replied... (other games and life meh lol)

But if you are still following for comments and edits etc here we go...

to *set up Palletts* first you need the item resource in question (that should be obv) then with the window that comes up after clicking a pallet it has a maximum/minimum stock allowed (also found in inventory? button on left menu (looks like stacked crates)

Room sizes for officers... as mentioned above room size *does not matter* as long as you can fit all they need you will be golden (shape does not matter either i have noticed) room for ONE bed... ONE shower (prefers its own cubical) ONE rug ONE locker ONE wardrobe will give enough asthetics for the *first promotion* every other sequential promotion from there *same officer but higher promoted* will need more and more

To equip loot (better guns/skills/etc) just go into the civ/crew menu and you will find it in one of those tabs

how NOT to run out of money... sometime this can be a bit tricky (when you are focusing on 101 different things at once lol) ok... make sure you have at least 1 storage on (lets go with Tutoland and ONE water planet - as mentioned above more or less) this will increase resource yeild per trip... also make sure *priorities tab* that more than one person is a cook... and dont forget to expand...
**NOTE** DO NOT forget to LOOT every planet you can!!!!! - fight the agressive aliens/pirates (fighting random pirates which are not part of a quest will not make them attack your Station) - they drop loot and cash... and DO NOT forget to grab all the crates you can (they contain a fair bit of cash)

**you can not expect to get rich on deliveries alone!!!** so if you have reached stagnation/profit loss... make sure you have *at least* **1x visitor dock... and at least a BASIC med centre (doctors desk/office... a few sick beds... and some *crafters... maybe promote one or two to scientists/medics as they will be faster and etc in crafting pills and soap and healing) SICK visitors (and staff???) will PAY to be cured/healed... Also dont forget TOURISM TOURISM TOURISM! = $$$$$$$$$ just make sure you are WELL equipepd for it ;)

Also... dont forget Bernice's BONUSES!!!! and the Visiting Chef... every time he comes (if you are not prepaired for him you will miss out **probably at a huge loss too**) PAUSE the game and build *throw away* kitchens and food/water/filtered water pallets etc... have HALF of your station prioritiesed to cooking... then once Chef has gone... pause game and revert back to normal/lock the doors (on the throw away kitchens so they cant use them)

But understand... this is supposed to be a LONG game... you cannot make 100000s of $$$ in only 10 mins, also dont forget the speed buttons... hope this helps

MAIN POINT!!!! - DO NOT and i repeat 100 times DO NOT!!!!! promote sooner than you have the resources to do so... (they ask for increasing pay and bonuses!!!!)... also DO NOT!!! allow visitors BEFORE you are ready... (at least one med centre is prefered... but if you can throw in at least ONE souviner Centre and Eatery for visitors... they will spend spend spend.... just make sure everything is always stocked (if you cant stock then disable/remove the visitor docks until you can fix it!) Also... try and research for the Motels/Hotels ASAP ... brings in a TON more cash ***at least 45 $ each at base asthetics*** (i THINK this is the base amount for motels?)

**ALSO** DO NOT forget to keep completing the goals from the GOALS menu... you earn cash for them!

(this is only from memory now... i will be playing again to test all this - if i was right... i will not edit it or mention this)

Didn't build a spaceport when exploring first planet. Returned home and all my supplies and troops were unloaded at edge of map.
Good Old Gamer  [author] 11 Feb, 2020 @ 2:43am
also as a quick note on CHEAP storage... you dont even need to build a storage room (if you dont mind them just dropping it/picking it where it is) this does not (i have noticed) have an asthetically negative impact...
Good Old Gamer  [author] 11 Feb, 2020 @ 2:34am
sorry i have not got back to you Tman... and if you or others are still watching this guide... i have updated with *Further info on Making profits* at the bottom... hope this helps

Nice Guide. It's a solid start. You do a good job in getting the basics, some things I still struggled with: How to set up pallets ; what size of room should officer have (I did a 3x5), how to equip things (upgrade shirt / weapon for planet parties) but most importantly, how to not run out of money. The trade for basic rations is pretty meager and getting a cook to cook a lot so you can trade I'm still struggling with (I promoted a redshirt to scientist since they can become chef eventually).

Thanks for putting the effort into this!
