KV-1 Gemini

Beskrivelse
The Gemini multi-role tug uses a prototype drive-by-wire waterjet propulsion system which provides 6DoF stabilisation and allows the pilot to manoeuvre at set speeds in any direction, as well as accurate autopilot with stationkeeping control.

It can also pull some things.

Stats
  • Propulsion: 1x Diesel, direct drive - 4x Waterjet
  • Fuel: 12000L fuel
  • Speed: 40kn (20m/s)

Operation

Engine can be toggled from the rightmost panel, throttle and starter is automated. The levers on the leftmost panel control the maximum manoeuvre speeds while the cruise throttle allows you to set a constant forward speed.

The right helm panel controls the autopilot, which acts as stationkeeping when within 5m of the destination. Solid Green indicator light means autopilot is underway, flashing indicator light means the destination is reached and stationkeeping is active.

Known Issues
  • Waterjet VFX may fill the lower deck when underway making it difficult to see
  • Roll/Pitch stabilisation is not perfect, and may oscillate under certain conditions
  • Leaving the rear access hatch open will let water in

I like tug boats anyway, but this one performs so well and looks so good that I am looking for excuses to use it. Great work!
