thank you for explaining in words why this game feels frustrating. Yeah, I get it, for me and others that part is not fun. Now I could potentially explain this to someone else. (or, the opposite, advertise for someone). Pretty useful.
I definitely agree with you on one thing: Antichamber stands apart from other puzzle games. And the reason for that is that it is a puzzle game turned on its head. Puzzles are actually easy, but you don't know the rules. It's figuring out the rules where the actual challenge lies. And it can be really frustrating if you expect something like “Portal” or “Braid”.
Personally, I just treat it as a separate game genre. A “lateral thinking game” or something. A genre which I can still enjoy despite not being great at.
lol, I watched video solution of how to get into blue gun now. And I could never ever figured it out.
I think good puzzle game is when you see the solution and scream 'of course it is THAT way' like for Portal for example.
Don't think AC is bad game, but not good either. For me. For my understanding of 'good'.
