Levels
  • Levels have alot of secrets and storage crates, some of which are off the path to the teleporter, as such you should ALWAYS explore a level fully to find all the storage crates and secret rooms, as they can give you access to weaponry that would otherwise be found on later levels. This can give you an edge during boss fights.

  • Check your map, it will make your trek through the facility much easier, as rooms can start looking the same.

  • The B levels, can be more difficult than the normal levels. You can see if a level is a B level, when the level starts in the upper left corner.

  • Even though the levels are usually randomised, events will happen on the same levels everytime. For example, on level 5, the player will always have to fight 2 War Walkers. There are several other level specific instances, but they won't be spoiled here. What this means for the player, is that you can prepare for specific levels, with either saving ammo or scrounging up explosives and such.

  • Secrets can be shot with weapons, don't use explosives, as they can be used for other, more useful things.

  • Every level has a terminal that shows the teleporter location and a storage crate locations, find these terminals to make your trip through the levels as easy as possible.

  • Large areas usually mean lots of enemies, be mindful of that.

  • Tubes near storage crates usually mean a Zombie or Swarm Bot horde, is lying in ambush.

  • Level 3 can sometimes spawn an optional boss fight, with 3 war walkers, if you suddenly find yourself in a big industrial looking room, have some Panzerfausts ready as you might have walked into this boss room.

Inventory
  • You're Inventory is key to your survival, and thus, it is a good idea to keep it organized, so you can select your most used items rather quickly. As such, it is a good idea to "clean up you're inventory often" as to reduce the time spent finding a specific item, in the middle of combat.

  • Items that are dropped do not disappear from the level, they will stay on the exact spot where they were dropped. This is useful if you suddenly find a specific part, that you need for an upgrade. Just drop something you don't need at the given moment, and pick up things to craft, before picking up the dropped item.

Health
  • You're hitpoints can be increased to 150 instead of the normal 100 by eating canned meat. This saves you inventory space, and gives you alot of Empty Tin cans, which can be used to create plates, which can be used to create armour.

  • Only use Medkits ff they can be used to their full effect, meaning, only use a medkit25 if you have 75 HP or lower.

  • Medkits and healing items are the most important items in the game, even more important than weaponry, if you need to drop a weapon in favor of some medkits, do it.

  • It is advised to keep your Health above 30, as some enemies can take you down in three hits or less, if you are below that threshold, also Nailbombs and Canguns take off Hitpoints.

General Combat
  • Don't like starting with Random Starting Gear? Turn it off! It can be turned off in the Options menu. If Random Starting Gear has been turned off, the player will start with a 9mm Pistol and some RDX250 explosive, this might seem rather weak, compared to some of the other things the player can start with. However, having the pistol early on, means that you can upgrade it to a Nailgun much faster, saving more valuable shotgun and grenade launcher shots for later.

You can also take the Random Starting Gear and cycle through weapons that suits your playstyle better. One of these potential weapons is the Shockblade, an enhanced knife that is combined with a taser. This upgraded knife is great during the early levels as it will one shot, zombies and M-1 Biounits. This can save alot of ammo, the down side of starting with the Shockblade is, that you will not start with any weapons besides that.

  • Pickup weapons from fallen enemies, then drop them (Q). This will unload the weapon, and give you the remaining ammo. This allows you to keep up a steady stream of ammo, throughout the game. It is very important that you do this, as Storage Crates become less and less prevalent the further into the complex you venture.

  • The Aiming line, can be extended the further away the cursor is from avatar. This is quite useful for long range sniping, with weapons like the Hunting Rifle and Lasgun.

  • Shotguns are more effective in close combat, you probably could have guessed. Having all the pellets hit the same target, will take down most low tier enemies, this saves precious ammo for the Shotgun.

  • Meleeing enemies during the early parts of the game, can make you save alot of ammunition for the later parts of the game. as health is less of an issue early on.

  • Stop and Listen for movement sounds. This can save your life.

  • Checking your map, pauses the game, and the Fog of War is cleared for the entire room. Even though you cannot see them in the normal view, you can spot enemies and such, and prepare for encounters.

  • Try to use weapons that use different types of ammunition.By doing this, you always have a back up weapon, should you run out of ammunition.

  • Don't ever stop moving, unless you are absolutely sure that you are alone (This is usually not the case)

  • Don't back up into a corner as enemies can easily swarm and take off a lot of hitpoints, or even worse kill you.

  • Don't just use weapons with ammo, Explosives are also extremely effective, but it takes time to get used to. Don't be afraid to try out different explosives, each different type of bomb, has its uses in different situations... Just don't go near them, after you drop them..

  • Bullets hurt. When you start encountering enemies with guns, take cover and wait for the perfect opportunity to shoot back. Don't stand and tank it, as you aren't a tank, and even simple pistols can hurt you.

  • The Nailgun is your friend for the first half of the game, its ammo can be crafted and it can be upgraded to shoot more and more projectiles with Tubes. It doesn't pack a punch, but better to save ammo for the good weapons untill you really need it, and you WILL need it. ( Thanks Shad0WeN!)

  • The black Vortexes that show up around the Medusa 1-C facility, will instantly kill you, you've probably noticed that, but it can also insta-kill any enemy that touches it, there is even an achievement for it! Use this as a way to save ammo, as Biounits and Reactivated Organic Units are easily lured into them... Just don't run into them yourself.

  • Always remember that you knife from your right hand. So, naturally, when you lead foes in circles to stab them, always stick to their right. Their right is close to your right, and that means your knife can reach them all the easier. ( Thanks for the tip to OneJLimit )

  • Debris on the ground slows both you and enemies down when walked over. (Thanks BuckarooHoliday)

Good way to save ammo
Here is a video showing a good tactic that you can use to save ammo in the early stages.

Weapon Overview Pt. 1
Teleglitch has a rather big arsenal. This range from simple pistols to giant lasercutting beams of death. All weapons has a purpose and a usage. The following will give some pointers as to how to best utilize each weapon (probably not all of them, but the most commonly found at least)

Note: This will not cover the Random Starting Gear. They are flavour weapons and not very different from their "normal" counterparts.

This list is not comprehensive of all weapons in the game. Part of the fun is uncovering them.

Fire Arms

Knife

Your standard knife. It is the first weapon you will have and it never runs out of ammo (it's a knife). It requires you to be in melee range of enemies, and it can be used to save ammunition for other weapons.
This weapon should be used, when there is a small group of enemies, letting you save some bullets during the earlier levels. DON'T use it on robots, as they will probably just laugh at you before violently murdering you.

9mm Pistol

This weapon is a potential starting weapon, it can hold 15 bullets, and ammunition is rather common. It is found as early as level 2, becoming quite common for the next 2-3 levels. It does not do much damage, but ammunition is rather plentiful early on, and it has several upgrade paths.
This weapon should be your go to weapon, as ammunition is common for it and it is rather precise.

Autopistol

How to craft: Hardware + 9mm Pistol

This weapon is an upgrade of the Pistol. It uses the same bullets as the 9mm but instead of being semi automatic, it is fully automatic. The clip has been increased from 15 to 20 and its damage per bullet is also slightly increased.
This weapon is a great All-round weapon, it has good stopping power, controllable spread and a high rate of fire. The only downside, is the small magazine, forcing you to reload it often. This also means that you go through your ammunition, quite fast.

SMG (Sub MachineGun)

How to craft: Hardware + autopistol + tube

This weapon is the autopistol upgrade. It still uses 9mm bullets, but loses its rate of fire, in favour of higher accuracy and damge. The clip is also increased from 20 to 40.
This weapon, is much more accurate, and does much more damage than the autopistol. It is a good alternative to the MG 3200, and its precise long range shooting, is appreciated during the later levels of the game. You should have a SMG before level 5, or you can wait untill level 6 or 7, where enemies can randomly drop them.

Nail Gun

How to craft: Hardware + Pistol + Tube

This weapon is an upgrade of the 9mm pistol, it uses Nails as its ammo. Unlike any other weapon in the game, ammunition for the nailgun is not picked up. Instead it is crafted, using Nailboxes + RDX 250 or Nailboxes x 2 + RDX500. It doesn't do that much damage, nor is it very precise and its bullets does not travel that far but since its ammo can be crafted, you rarely run out of it. It has a clip size of 40, and is semi automatic. The NailGun can be upgraded to shoot up to 5 nails at a time, using Tubes.
This weapon should be made as quickly as possible, as it saves up the rest of your ammunition for later. It isn't the best weapon, heck its worse than the Pistol, but due to its ammo being, sometimes, more common than anything else. It is perfect for the first 4 levels.

Shotgun

The shotgun is a close quarters weapon that fires several pellets in a 30-45 degree angle away from the player. It uses Shotgun shells (SShells) and has a clip capacity of 10. It can be found on level 1, in a storage cabinet.
This weapon, is perfect for when enemies get close, as it has knockback and does quite abit of damage. Even though it is a shogun, it can deliver shots quite rapidly, making it ideal for getting rid of swarms of enemies. Its ammo is relatively easy to find but it is worthless on medium to long ranges. Use this sparingly, as its worth saving for tight corridors or when you are trapped.

2xShotgun

How to craft: Shotgun x 2 + Hardware

Two barrels, double the fun! This weapon is an upgrade of the regular shotgun. Basically it increases the clip capcity from 10 to 20 and it can hit a large area. Besides these small upgrades, it functions exactly like the regulare shotgun.
This is not a must have upgrade, it takes away Hardware, which could be used to more important upgrades. Some playstyles suit the weapon, but personally i never really found it to be that effective.

AGL (Adhesive Grenade Launcher)

This weapon fires small grenades, that explode a few seconds after being fired. They cling to any surface and glue enemies together. It has a clip size of 10, has a small splash area and its projectiles travel very slowly. It can be upgraded to fire 3 grenades at once by using 2x Tubes. The weapon can be found on level 1, in a storage cabinet.
This weapon is very situational. It is only really effective when fighting swarms of enemies, as it can "glue" together multiple enemies, before exploding. However since the grenades do so little damage, even the simplest enemies will need two grenade shots before going down. Its a weapon that only works for one situation and even there, its usage is questionable. With that said, it is a good idea to take it with you as its grenades can be used to blow up secret walls, On a side note, if you use it as rarely as i do, you will end up with a stack of ammunition for it, which always comes in handy. The upgrade makes the weapon marginally better, but i personally never upgrade it.

MG 3200

This weapon, is a light machine gun that fires MG bullets (mgammo) it has a 30 bullet magazine and is fully automatic. It has decent accuracy, good stopping power and ammo is quite common for it. It can be upgraded with a drum magazine, which increases the ammo capacity from 30 to a whopping 90. This happens at the expense of dramatic increase in reload time, for the weapon.
This weapon should be your main weapon from the moment you get it. It works well through-out the game, against almost any enemy type and it has a few different upgrade paths you can take it down.

Note: I am not sure how many bullets the drum magazine can carry, i remember it as 90, but i might be wrong

Heavy Rifle

This weapon, fires armour piercing, heavy caliber shots with deadly accuracy. It has a 10 bullet clip, with slow rate of fire and equally slow reload speeds. It is very powerful but ammo for it, is limited. The Heavy Rifle can be upgraded with a second heavy rifle and create a Riflex2. This upgrade, like the shotgunx2, doubles everything about the weapon.
This weapon is very important as it has AP rounds, which few weapons in this game does. It is well suited for sniping gun-weilding enemies from a distance, aswell as taking out armoured targets during the early stages of the game. It's important to note, that this weapon is slow to fire, so make sure that you have a clear shot before firing, as it can mean the difference between killing the enemy or dying. The upgrade for the Heavy rifle, is a good investment, as it makes the gun viable for the later levels, where armoured targets become more and more frequent, always keep at least 1 magazine for this weapon, as it should be reserved for taking out robot enemies.

Revolver

Six bullets, more than enough to kill anything that moves. This weapon fires revolver bullets (revammo) and has a clip capacity of 6. Its ammo is uncommon, it's rather imprecise and its damage is not impressive. It has an upgrade path (Shotgun + Revolver) which makes it shoot all 6 shots at once.
This weapon, is abit of a mystery to me, i usually never find it and when i do, its too late in the game for it to have any use. The upgrade makes the weapon waste alot of its ammo. If you want the different ammo type, then pick it up. If not, don't bother.

Weapon Overview Pt. 2
This part will look at the various explosives, that are in the game. It will not be a complete list of explosives, but instead it will show off some of the more common explosives and their usage.

This list is purposefully incomplete. Part of the fun, in this game, is uncovering different recipes and weapons.

Rocket Propelled Grenades

Panzerfaust

How to make: RDX500 + empty tin canx2

This weapon, is a one-use only fire and forget weapon. It fires a missile in a straight line, which explodes on impact. It has high damage and quite a big blast radius.
You should always be carrying at least 1 or 2 of these, as they can help you immenely when you meet an armoured target and you desperately need something with high damage to kill it quickly.

Panzerfaust AP

How to make: RDX500 + empty tin canx3

This weapon functions exactly like the Panzerfaust but designed to penetrate armour.
This weapon is very effective against robots and armoured targets.

Bombs and Traps

RDX 250/500

A common plastic explosive found throughout the game. the 250/500 indicates how many grams of it, is in the specific charge. Besides being able to use it as an explosive. RDX can be used to craft a variety of different items. It has a short fuse and quite the splash range.
This explosive is very common throughout the game. don't use it all at one time, try to save at least 1 or 2 units of it, as you might need it for a crafting recipe or use it against an enemy.

Cangun

How to craft: Empty tin can + RDX500 + Nailbox

An Improvised explosive device that works abit differently than the other bombs, which you can find. Instead of dropping it on the floor, the player fires it as a normal weapon. It has awesome destructive power, as it shreds through mostly anything. This comes at a pretty high crafting value. When firing this weapon, the player will also take damage (10-20) so be mindful of that.
You should always keep one on you, as its good to getting out of a really bad situation, don't rely on it too much and never fire it when your health is low. A free one can be found on level 1, behind a secret wall.

Nailbomb

How to craft: RDX500 + Nailbox

This weapon, is used like the RDX bombs, you can throw and after alittle while, it explodes. It does a lot of damage, it has a very big splash and its inexpensive. There is one major drawback of this bomb. It takes off a lot of your own Health, if you don't get away in time, as the nails will hit you in the back as you run away. It has killed me, on more than one occassion, even when i had more than 40 hitpoints. You should use this weapon, when you have a corner or pillar you could hide behind, as the damage can be avoided, if you're quick enough. You can find a bomb for free on level 1, behind a secret wall.

The agl-1 is very effective against swarmbots, auto-turrets and camera's. It takes one shot to destroy them. Quite useful info and should be in the guide.

Your use of commas and the word "you're" disturbs me, but besides that great guide!
