The story continues in the sequel: The King's Best Men

General Belisarius has set foot on your country! Your homelands, once in full bloom, have been wrecked and weakened by the enemy. Your king has withdrawn to the capital, his last stronghold against Belisarius.

You are Charles, one of the King's commanders. Together with your childhood friend Siegfried, you want to come to your king's aid.

You are leading a small group of determined soldiers through enemy territory. If you can make it to the capital, it will be in your hands to turn the tide of this war.

On your journey, you meet a merchant. He is acting rather friendly, but he has a dark secret. Your life might depend on finding it out... A woman might help you there.

This scenario was designed in a way that it can (but need not) be played more than once. You might find yourself in a slightly different story every time. This includes different dialogs. If the figures don't repeat all the things they said last time, or if they say something new, don't be too surprised. ;-)

The scenario is tough, but winnable. If you have some experience with the game and if you like tactical challenges, give this one a try.

Note: This scenario shows up in the Custom Campaign section of the game. You can find it in the Single Player menu. You have to play this scenario in HARD difficulty or it won't function properly.

This 13 years old scenario has lots of details and a great replay value. It was released on December 11th, 1999 and I still have it on one of my floppy disks. I hope you like it and if you do, don't forget to check out the sequel The King's Best Men.

Nice work, but I have to show regrets that it could not be applied to the newest version. Please update it so that we do not need to download by ourselves.

Still one of my favorite scenarios of all time, this was Ingo Van Thiel's first scenario in Age of Kings, after making some truly classic campaigns for the original AoE (which you should check out as well). He's one of the greatest scenario designers of all time, and everyone who plays AoK should have his complete lineup installed (no excuses with workshop making it so easy!)

A very classic scenario. I suggest you look at some of Ingo Van Thiel's other works, such as Ulio and When the Wheel Breaks. These are some of the best AoK scenarios out there, developing many advanced trigger tricks still used today.
