Copying client settings from version 1.6.0
By Bankler
With the 1.6.1 update, the developer company name was correceted in the game client. With this change, it's expected that any local stats (including offline mode progress) and settings you might have saved will be lost. This guide shows how to get them back if you need them.

Background
When Sky Knights first was launched, it was published by Hampus Bankler as an individual. Hence, in Windows' registry, everything about the game is saved under the company name "Bankler Games".

Since then, Bankler started the company Mudpike, and the game is now published by this company. Until now, stuff has (oddly) still been saved under the "Bankler Games" name.

Update 1.6.1 fixes this, and will now properly save everything under "Mudpike", as it should be.

As a consequence however, all the game's existing registry entries previously saved is no longer available to the game. This includes things like your local client settings (i.e keybindings, sound preferences and such, as well as your offline mode progress).

In most cases, you don't need to do anything. Just take a look at your keybindings and make any fixes you need, and you're good to go.

However, if you play the game offline and want to keep your progress (or for some other reason really want your old client settings back), you need to extract this data from the old place in the registry, and copy it to the new place.

The operation is a little registry hack. You should be somewhat comfortable with what you're doing, or ask someone for help. This is done at your own risk.
Opening the registry
  • Make sure Sky Knights is not running!
  • Press Win+R
  • Type regedit in the field and press enter
Exporting the old settings
  • In the registry editor, find the old folder Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Bankler Games\Sky Knights
  • Right-click this Sky Knights folder, and select Export
  • Save the .reg file with any name (skyknights.reg for instance) and make note of where it's saved
Editing the file
  • Find the file on your harddrive, right-click it and select Edit
  • On the third line, where it says Bankler Games, change it to Mudpike. It's VERY IMPORTANT that you get this exactly right, so be careful!
  • Save the file!

When you're done, the line that previously looked like this:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Bankler Games\Sky Knights]

Should now look like this:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Mudpike\Sky Knights]

Importing the file
  • Again, locate the file on your harddrive
  • Double click the file
  • When asked to very that you want to import the information, press Yes!
Verify that it worked
  • In the registry editor, look for the folder Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Mudpike\Sky Knights (you might need to press F5 to refresh the listing)
  • Verify that the folder has gotten a lot of entries and that it looks the same as in the old Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Bankler Games\Sky Knights folder

You are now done! There's no need to remove the old folder unless you really want to (I recommend keeping it, for the sake of fiddling around as little as possible).

Start the game and verify that your old settings are back.
