Instructions
  • Install DOSBox. For example in Ubuntu, run:
    sudo apt install dosbox
  • Install and configure Worms.
    1. Install Worms in Steam. You may need to "enable Steam Play for all titles" in section Steam Play of Steam settings.
    2. In Worms game properties, set Launch Options to:
      echo "%command%" > /dev/null && dosbox -conf worms.conf -c "mount c $PWD/DriveC" -c "imgmount d $PWD/worms.cue -t iso -fs iso" DriveC/goworms.bat -exit

From now on you can run Worms from Steam in Linux.
Comments
The proposed launch options replace the launch script "runworms.bat" in a way compatible with Linux. The script is located in the Worms installation path.

You can also install compatibility tool boxtron formerly called steam-dosbox from github... Google it... After installing it, it works like proton... But you have to set the compatibility tool to boxtron via Worms>Settings>Force compatibilty tool.. Then you can run it directly from within steam and also gives you stuff like steam overlay etc...
