RESHADE-XHAIR
A fully customizable, in-game, fullscreen-compatible crosshair overlay.

ReShade 4.x is now supported!
The settings menu is now bound to Home by default (previously Shift-F2).

Installation Instructions
New installation method:

IF YOUR GAME CRASHES, go to your game folder and rename dxgi.dll to d3d11.dll

Old installation method:
  1. Subscribe then launch KF2 so that the files download. Close the game.
  2. Download Reshade[reshade.me]
  3. Open the installer, click "Select game" and select Killing Floor 2.
  4. Check "Direct3D 10/11/12"
  5. Click "Edit ReShade settings" and change the "Effects Path" to ..\..\workshop\content\232090\1623217467\shaders
  6. Exit the installer and start the game.
  7. IF YOUR GAME CRASHES, go to your game folder and rename dxgi.dll to d3d11.dll


All done! Now press press the Home key to bring up the overlay and enable the shader like so:



Important Notes
  • If you don't see "xhair" in the list, it means you didn't set the effects path correctly in step 6. You can edit the "Effects Path" through the "Settings" tab in the in-game ReShade overlay.
  • If you don't see any settings for the xhair shader, make sure to disable "Performance" mode.

FAQ
  • Q: Does this work in fullscreen?
    A: Yes. Rather than rendering the crosshair outside the game, the injected ReShade overlay renders it within the game.

  • Q: Will this get me banned?
    A: No, reshade-xhair will not get you banned by itself. HOWEVER, the program that it runs on (ReShade) is blacklisted by some games/anti-cheats. Make sure you look up whether ReShade can be used safely on the desired game before installing it. Killing Floor 2 should be safe to use with (at your own discretion).

  • Q: How do I uninstall?
    A: Run the ReShade installer, select your game then click "Uninstall".

  • Q: My game is crashing on startup, how do I fix it?
    A: Go to your game folder and rename dxgi.dll to d3d11.dll.

  • Q: How do I customize my crosshair? / I don't see any crosshair settings.
    A: If you don't see any settings for the xhair shader, go to the "Settings" tab and change "Use Mode" to "Configuration Mode".

  • Q: I'm getting suttering/fps drops/misc issues
    A: reshade-xhair is unlikely to be the issue. It's probably a ReShade issue. Google it.

Known Bugs
  • Hide on RMB: Toggle sometimes causes the crosshair to disappear.
    This is due to the overlay not being able to detect when ADS is toggled off. This is not a bug, but a technical limitation of ReShade. The overlay simply can't handle all the scenarios where the player can get out of ADS (other than pressing RMB). Several buttons can cause the player to get out of ADS unexpectedly: Melee, Heal Syringe, Reload, etc. This causes an inversion of the crosshair visibility.
    Fix: (a) use ADS on "Hold"; or (b) work around the limitation by avoiding un-ADS triggers.

  • The Killing Floor 2 SDK crashes when launched with ReShade installed.
    Fix: rename the DLL file to prevent it from being loaded.

  • (Cross) Crosshair Thickness can't render 1-pixel thick crosshairs.
    The overlay can currently only render symmetrical crosshairs (even pixel width/height).

i did the part opening reshade overlay ingame(ofc download shader.zip and re run reshade to locate ini file from github file), and tried to open ini file in "\Steam\steamapps\common\killingfloor2\Binaries\Win64" as your example screnshot you upload, but still not shows xhair. can you please help me....i googled, and asked chat GPT like 10 times to solve it via pasting this steam page url and github url but even GPT couldnt solve it TwT

i installed this and i can no longer play endless mode and objective mode :/
just survival, idk what happened there, didn´t even online, it was an offline single player and when i uninstalled the program i no longer had acces to those game modes
