The Gargena (Modern utility and rescue ship)

Description
The Gargena is designed as a modern utility and rescue vessel with good capabilities for any kind of ship mission. I like to experiment with design and tried to make a modernistic ship inspired by modern Scandinavian ship designs. If you don’t read the technical information about the ship below, then there’s not really much point in trying to use this ship. Recommended crew is at least 2 people.

Many parts of the ship was built when I was pretty new to the game, so there will probably be updates in the future with improved engines and logics.

The ship is 44,5 meters long, 11,5 meters wide and 17 meters tall. It’s properly balanced and will always turn itself over if flipped. It’s a heavy ship loaded with equipment so cruising speed with diesel engines is at 14, but it can use Electric engines for a short while with a top speed of 43.

The Ship is fitted with:
- 2 cranes
- 1 small rib inside the cargo deck
- Efficient bailing pumps that can completely raise the ship again if sunk
- 58800 liters fuel capacity
- 55000 liters of liquid cargo tanks. (Keep in mind that it was not meant to be a fuel tanker, so filling the cargo tanks up full will make it a bit front heavy)
- Helicopter landing deck with 4 winches and connectors
- Electric and diesel propulsion
- Multiple winch systems with portable winches stored in the cargo bay that can be fitted on different points on the main deck
- Connector adapters stored in the cargo bay
- Side fenders with mag all to grab on to other vessel or land
- Searchlights
- Realistic and customizable lantern setup
- Med bay
- Monitoring system to detect and locate leaks on the ship
- Fire pumps
- Storage areas
- Auto stabilizing
- Auto Flaps
- Reserve fuel tanks and batteries

Technical stuff:

The engine system can be a bit complicated to use efficiently, but has loads of possibilities in customizing how the ship runs. This mainly to give a realistic function and just like a real ship, it will take some time to master.

IMPORTANT! It’s recommended to just use the electric engines by clicking W/S to do slow maneuvering along the thrusters that can either rotate the ship or move sideways. For long distance travel it’s best to use the primary and secondary engines. They can be started from the bridge or the engine room. It’s important to use the gears when accelerating on the diesel engines. Start by putting it in low gear before engaging clutches. Then toggle low gear off and toggle high gear on when it has revved up.

The primary, secondary and electric engines can all be run separately. There are 4 primary engines running to 8 propellers on the rear. There are 2 secondary engines running to 9 propellers under the bow and one propeller at the stern turning with the rudders for better maneuvering at high speed (But be careful with hard turns in low speed. Remember it’s a heavy ship). The electric engines run 9 propellers at the rear.

The ship has 3 different battery systems. One main battery system that runs almost all functions on the ship including thrusters and starting diesel engines. One El.engine battery system that only runs to the electric engines. And one small reserve battery system that can be connected to the main battery system.

How to charge batteries:

The engines aren’t constantly connected to generators since it would drain too much power from the engines. I recommend to always have the normal generator engines running. You will find a control panel for them in the engine room. Keep in mind that the generators may die if you do a lot of maneuvering with the electric engines at the same time. Keep an eye on the battery level to the El.engine batteries to make sure it’s charging when you need it to.

You can also charge either main batteries or el.engine batteries using the primary engines. You will find all the necessary controls on the engine room control panel under “Engine Control”. Make sure the primary clutch on the bridge and the engine room is disconnected. Then you pull down two levers called “disconnect primary propellers” and “connect generators to primary engines” Then you can put the engines in low gear and connect the primary clutch. Let it rev up and toggle low gear off. Turn on high gear. At last you can toggle on the “Generators high gear” and make sure that the generators are connected to the battery you want to charge through the switches on the panel.

Fuel:

The ship has 5 fuel tanks in total. Two on each side and reserve in the keel. You can move fuel between the tanks with the control panel in the engine room. You can refill the ship or pump out fuel from the fuel ports on each side of the main deck. You will find controls by the pumps in the engine room. Then use the dials and the buttons on the control panel in the engine room to distribute fuel to the different tanks. The engines drain fuel from the rear tanks, so it’s recommended to always have the fuel pumping from front to rear tanks.

Just let the old dead ship stay dead and stop commenting on this.

This is my oldest ship. No nice way to say this, but I don't care

update - engines constantly just explode now for no reason

wow. just wow. if one of my 1st workshop creations was having an error, I would stop working on my newer one and fix the old one.

How can we transfert the fuel in the liquid cargo tanks to main tanks for the engines ?

I have over 50 workshop creations. If I was going to keep all of them updated, I would never have time to build anything new. By Stormworks standards, this ship is to me like a cart pulled by a donkey, when the stuff I'm building now are like spaceships. So, no. Fixing this ship is like fixing a loose wheel on the donkey cart, when I can spend the same amount of time building a fighter jet

this is a good creation even though it is one of your first boats, when I was about to get into the ocean waters, one of the engines blew up, and another did, and you get the point. could you please fix this error?
