A Beginning.
I play on the mobile version for now whilst me computer is in the shop, but I have a quick little bit of info I just learned for any new players out there! This will help your sub-hunting capabilites GREATLY. Drain those krauts of their morale and fill them with.. well, seawater!
How to Line up your ship.
When playing, you should see "Target bearing [degree]". This is the current heading on the top navigation bar of the enemy, where your number is 0 (The heading is lined up with the bow and conning tower.) In order to line up your ship, Look at the heading if the enemy target. If its 300+, turn to the left. 300-, Right. Pay attention to how much you are turning next to the "None/Smoke" tab, as basic mathematics will help you line up your ship. For example, if the target is at 355, turn to the left 5 degrees, and if they are 5 degrees, turn 5 degrees right. 360 = 0, and if you hit less than 5, you're essentially on-point. Continue on to learn how to properly engage a enemy sub.
Kill the bugger!
Good job, Sailor! You can finally get head-on with the enemy sub! Now, please note: Do not use this tactic if they are at periscope depth. They can and will shoot you and they will not be merciful! To conserve your ships, fire HE or AP shells at the submarine first, No matter the distance. If or when it dives, begin to chase and prepare to depth charge. Now, To make sure you can actually line up and work your magic, Please move your speed to 1/3 of full. It will allow you to turn with minimal distance taken, and line up good. And don't worry, Usually it works the first time! And if not, Always have another ship that can follow up afterwards. If you go on head-on, you can reverse and try again if it does not sink. Tip: Hit the sub when its in the medium of range of your depth charges.
Happy Hunting!
I hope you found this helpful, Sailor! Remember: Loose lips sink ships and One sub down means One more bullet for the war effort!

The angle you set are rudder angles, not bearing angles. So a 5 degree angle will not turn your ship 5 degrees in one movement turn. Well, once in a blue moon, for some combination of ship type and speed, it might do, but most of the time it won't.

I prefer modding the game. A 100 torp spread works great!
