As many people know, the 'elegant rescue' achievement from the skirmishes DLC has been broken since the most recent update. The achievement worked previously, but the devs are apparently dead in the water and unable to fix their game. But luckily there's a way to download old versions of the game from the depot, and I found one that works to unlock this achievement.

First of all, you'll obviously need to own the skirmishes DLC for this to work. And I'd also advise you to keep this one til last as it will reset your money and character unlocks.

The method no longer works directly from steam, but you can follow the steps laid out in this guide:

Then replace the command to download the actual depot with:

depotdownloader.bat -app 268200 -depot 268201 -manifest 794682924373462855 -username YOURSTEAMACCOUNTUSERNAME -dir C:\MyDepots

If you are playing on Linux or Mac you'll need to change the numbers in the download command to match the ID of a mac or linux manifest

I can't test this myself but the command should be something like:

depotdownloader.bat -app 268200 -depot 268202 -manifest 1258607736102272154 -username YOURSTEAMACCOUNTUSERNAME -dir C:\MyDepots


for mac and

depotdownloader.bat -app 268200 -depot 268203 -manifest 4253185360834794459-username YOURSTEAMACCOUNTUSERNAME -dir C:\MyDepots

for linux

This method absolutely worked for me, and I hope it will for others. Achievement tracking sites also don't mind the Depot method, as all you're doing is using an old version of the game. If you'd happened to be lucky and played this game before June 2015 it would have worked for you, so there's no reason why you can't roll back the game to be able to have a legitimate chance at getting a 100% on this game.
