Beskrivning
Centred on the island of Kilwa, the Kilwa Sultanate was an East African trading empire stretching from Somalia to Mozambique borne out of betrayal and warfare. It dominated trade throughout the west Indian Ocean, with trade routes spanning the ocean that some believe led them to make land in Australia before any European. The sultanate lasted for over six centuries until succumbing to a Portugese invasion in the 16th century. During that time, the Kilwa sultanate controlled the movement of commodities through the region and beyond, in addition to the development and spread of the Swahili culture as an amalgamation of the various traders which resided within the empire.

Requires the Brave New World expansion pack. Zanzibar and Mombasa city states have been replaced with Meroe and Dakar respectively.
