Build Wonders on Mountains

Beskrivelse
Updated for Gathering Storm!

Allows you to build certain Wonders on top of mountain tiles. Now, you can avoid using up a potentially valuable plot of land! It does not force you to place these wonders on Mountains - you can still use their regular terrain requirements.

The Wonders are:
  • Oracle (all mountain types)
  • Petra (desert mountain only)
  • Potala Palace (all mountain types; no longer requires an adjacent mountain)
  • Cristo Redentor (all mountain types)

Unfortunately, Jebel Barkal does not look right on top of mountain terrain, so I did not include it for this mod, despite the appropriateness.

========

Placing a Wonder on top of a mountain does NOT remove the tile's coding as a mountain, so you are still able to get district adjacency benefits from mountains.

Is it possible, for some wonders, to make them replace the mountain instead of being build on top of them ? I know that’s how it works for some things.

Also, is it possible to make builders (or else) able to work on something even if they’re not on top of it ? Because it’s possible to speed the process of wonders, but since they can’t walk on mountain, well I can’t ^^

Anyway, easy to add more wonders, and very necessary mod ! Thanks.

For some reason, Petra doesn't work on my game, but Jebel Barkal does?

Love this mod, wish there was one for districts

Yes, I think you are correct. Portala Palace can indeed be placed on a mountain tile as long as there is another mountain tile next to it.

And I'm aware that the mod's description says that the adjacency requirement for Potala Palace was removed. However, if my memory serves me right, that coding change actually didn't work for some reason, possibly due to the Gathering Storm coding changes, or maybe something to do with the New Frontier Pass changes, but regardless I'm 95% certain that you still have to have another mountain next to the one that you want to use to place the Potala Palace. It might have been something hardcoded into the game's binary files, but don't quote me on that...

@Melancholy: You still have to have a 2nd mountain next to the mountain you want to place it on in order to be able place it. That means that it can't be placed on a lone mountain that doesn't have another mountain next to it.

I am unable to place Portala Palace on top of a mountain for some reason. Every other wonder works fine. Perhaps there was some kind of change implemented in Gathering Storm or the Frontier Pass?

this is great. I love having more space as Qin shihuang to build other wonders

It's not included in that other mod but works alongside of it perfectly fine. Or at least it did when I last played last March anyway...

Is this included in your "easier wonder placement" mod or is it meant to run alongside it?
