From personal experience, without using the trick below, it appears the odds are not in the players favor and the only case that makes any profit is the free one.

Restarting the Game with Money

Winows: The save data is stored in the user's appdata. You can access this from the file explorer by going to the user directory and appending "\AppData\LocalLow\RewindApp\Hentai Case Opening". Deleting save.dat and then starting the game will reset your money and skins.

Winning on Higher Cases

To win money on the higher boxes:

select a box you have enough money to open
open the box
If the skin is worth less than what you paid for, close the game without making a decision (This will refund the money for the case)
repeat 1 through 3 until you get a skin worth more than you paid for
sell the skin and make profit
