Guide to Custom Gamemodes: VS Saxton Hale
By BubbleBlep and 1 collaborators
In these seriers of guides, I am going to guide you through the various custom gamemodes the TF2 community has created for us to enjoy! In this guide, I will be explaining the custom gamemode VSH, or Vs Saxton Hale. In this mode, a team of usually 23 players (24 slot server minus 1 person being hale) fight against the manly Saxton Hale and try to defeat him. But sometimes, the boss could be the HHH, Vagineer, or Christian Brutal Sniper (why is he christian?)

What is this gamemode?
Vs Saxton Hale is a mode where 1 large team fights against 1 overpowered boss. The goal for the team is to kill the boss, being any of the four provided bosses (or more if you have freak fortress or custom ones added). This gamemode is very fun and can last very long or very short. A group of good spys can kill Hale with only 10 backstabs or less, since 1 does 10% of Saxton's health.
Gameplay Basics
The Base mode for Saxton is Arena, so if you die, you will not respawn until the next round. Soldiers, Pyros, Demomen, Heavies, and Medics may be killed by a critical hit from Saxton's fists, but usually, it takes 2 hits. So getting close to Saxton can be very risky! For that reason, the developers decieded upon crits for all melee wepeons excepts spy's knife.

The types of maps that VSH is played on are usually some of the stock maps, like Nucleus or Harvest for example. But there are plenty of user created VSH maps like vsh_2fortdesk, vsh_manncohq or vsh_crevice (my favorite :3). A lot of VSH maps are very open, but some like vsh_aperture are indoors and not too open. Maps must also contain a control point for various reasons.

In VSH, the control point is avalible for either Hale or the enemy team to capture after a certain amount of time. Although, it's frowned upon to cap because it makes Hale look like a "quitter" or in most cases, a "noob". Capping the point is usually done when there are few people left on the map (could be mostly scouts), 1 person left on the enemy team and Hale cannot catch or find the player(s).

When it comes to strategies, many are used. One of them is Medic + X strategy. Since medic is extrememly useful in the gamemode, using him and another class that can do a lot of damage in a short amount of time is very effective. Medics ubercharge starts at 40% at the beginning of round and charge up at the rate of the kritzkreig. After an ubercharge, the kritzkrieg goes back to its stock 41% and the cycle starts up again. The ubercharge makes the player invincible and crits the player aswell. It also lasts longer than a regular ubercharge going all the way up to 140%. Another strategy is using scout to get away from Hale. This is an effective strategy because it can easily annoy Hale due to the fact that he can't catch the scout. Although, Hale can still use his rage to capture scouts.

These next sections will be explaining each boss and what they can do!

Saxton Hale
Saxton Hale is a manly Australian, who is also the CEO of Mann Co. He is a extremely buff male who usually never weres a shirt, but wears cut off jeans that are very short. He also wears shoes and socks aswell. Hale has a Bat Wing type mustache, and has chest hair in the shape of the country Australia.

Hale can do many things in this gamemode and I will explain each of them.

- Super Jump: Using alt-fire and looking up or crouching and looking up, Hale can do a large jump. He can easily get to a place where scouts, soldiers, and demos can go. Hale can use this to suprise a group of people camping by just falling from the sky on top of them

- Rage: As Saxton takes damage, he will have a meter fill up with rage. When you have a full rage meter, you can taunt to scare players near Hale. This makes them walk slower, and with their hands up, so they cant shoot. This rage also disables nearby sentries so they won't attack. Hale also has a defence buff for 4 seconds after rage, which reduced incoming damage by 33%

- Escape Plan effect: As bosses take damage, they go faster, similar to the Escape Plan for the Soldier.

- Mantreads Effect: When Hale uses Super Jump, he can fall onto players dealing about the same amount of damage as a hit from a boss. This is similar to the Mantreads for Soldier.

- Weighdown: If a boss is airborn for more than 5 seconds, he can crouch and look down to be forced to the ground to not get stuck from knockbacks from the sentry or minigun for example.
Horseless Headless Horsemann Jr.
The Horseless Headless Horsemann Jr. is the son of The Horseless Headless Horsemann. He is a VSH boss that look just like the original HHH, he is a skeleton with leather clothing, gloves, and boots. He has a pumpkin for a head and weilds a giant axe called the Headless Horsemann's Headtaker.

As for what HHH Jr. can do, hes very similar to other bosses except he doesnt have Super Jump.

- Teleportation: HHH Jr. has the ability to teleport inside of a player. When he teleports he stunned for a couple seconds and then is able to kill his target he teleported into. This comes in handy when you can't find or catch any players.

- Rage: HHH Jr.'s rage is exactly like Saxton Hales.

Vagineer
The Vagineer is a Engineer with a giant head and a mouth in the shape of a... Vagina. He weilds a Wrench and nothing else. He also speaks his lines backwords.

Vagineer is similar to other bosses but he has his own special rage.

- Super Jump: Vagineers Super Jump is exactly like Saxton Hale's Super Jump.

- Rage: Vagineers rage stuns players in a smaller radius, although he gets a ubercharge for a amount time, which protects him from all incoming damage.

Origin: Although the first Vagineer youtube video was deleted, heres an example of him:
Christian Brutal Sniper
Christian Brutal Sniper is a Sniper who is Christian, Brutal, and is a Sniper! His clothes are black with red hints over it and a red Biohazard Logo on both his sleeves. He weilds all the sniper knives, every kill they get switched out.

Brutal Sniper is the same as Hale except for his rage.

- Super Jump: CBS's Super Jump is exactly like Saxton Hale's Super Jump.

- Rage: When the Brutal Sniper rages, he gets a huntsman. The amount of arrows he gets depends on how many players are alive. He gets to move full speed while charging back his arrow and can still taunt kill people with it. His stun rage is very small though.

Origin: Christian Brutal Sniper originated from youtuber Kekas vas Normandy's video shown here:

I also recommend you coming to our very own servers, the Critsandvich Fun Filled Servers! We have Godm1n and Ninjam1n's Love Nest and Fun Server 2.

The Love Nest is filled with Freak Fortress 2, which includs more of a variety of bosses (Demopan 2 refined, Gangplank the Medic, Gabe Newell the heavy, Ninjaspy the... spy). We even had one of our community members step up and build his own mod, the Lime flavored Dragon, a firebreathing dragon who uses the Sharpened Volcano fragment as his primary, and a phlog for his rage.

The Fun Server 2 holds the original vsh maps and models, and is fun for all.

So come on here, it's fun filled, we have many fun-filled admins and a great player community.

The Saxton Hale plugin breaks a lot. Some servers sometimes needs to update it, or tf2 updates break it. Either way, I am not the actual creator of the game mode, just the guide
