I'm not sure why but this sounds incredibly fun! Even if you're not quite hitting anything!
I had never played an RPG in my life. I didn’t understand what grind was. The Sword of Vermillion came to the Sega Megadrive (Genesis) and changed all that. Not the greatest RPG by far. No reason to rush out and buy it right away but for me this was an excellent entry into the genre. The soundtrack was incredible for the system and I can still remember it. The combat was unwieldy but it was trying something different. Rather than the standard 3 characters, choose an action and press X, you only had Alex, the hero and you had to run around the combat scene waving your sword around like you are directing traffic at Heathrow Airport. There was also a Castlevania style sidescrolling boss fight thrown in just for good measure.
