Sure 1982 was the year Joust came out on the Atari but even though I liked Joust it doesn’t make my top 50. So we have just to be content with awesome movies in 82 such as ET, Blade Runner, The Thing, Tron and Poltergeist instead.
So roll on 1983. When I was a kid my first home computer was a ZX Spectrum 48K and Manic Miner was one of my first games. It was a weird screen of surreal and psychedelic images and colours…Floors melted, tools and weird enemies paced around the screen. The game was unforgiving of any errors and I never finished Manic Miner but this game taught me hair-line accuracy and patience. It also taught me having a button to toggle music on and off is a godsend.
