I saw a workaround from IcemaX Workaround for Gorky 17. I tried it with JA2 Wildfire and it works fine for me. So all Credits and Hymns go to the Steamuser Icemax.

Download a tool called dgVoodoo 2. [dege.freeweb.hu] (password for v2.55.2: dege)

Extract the archive and run dgVoodooSetup, click on DirectX tab and select your preferable resolution, VRAM of your videocard and also you can crank up MSAA up to 8x . Then press Apply, OK. Now go to MS folder and copy 3 .dll files called D3D8, D3DImm and DDraw to your JA2 Wildfire folder (example - C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\JA2Wildfire).

Now just run the game with new dgVoodoo 2 D3D wrapper and enjoy it. Good luck.

if you want to paly around with configuration, after coping the .dll files make sure you copy dgVoodoo.conf too, or configure dgVoodoo app to generate that file in JA2 steam folder. DLLs read from that config otherwise you will get the default options

Sorry my english is to bad to explain that properly. Maybe you should read the original post from the steam Gorky 17. But i copied the workaround from there and replaced the words Gorky 17 with JA2
