However, you can thank Epic Game Store for killing Ghost Mode. Instead of continuing to add new Ghost Mode locations and bring it out of beta-testing, ioi has removed it from Hitman 2 so that it won't compete with Hitman 3. Which can't have a Ghost Mode due to a lack of feature structure to support it. The mode was built using Steamworks and EGS has nothing in place to replicate this and ioi weren't willing to build a new foundation for the mode so it's shipping without it.
Several aspects of Hitman 2 are now either removed or unfinished or cancelled due to this EGS partnership, and Hitman 3 is a smaller game with smaller locations by comparison being shoveled out to EGS just for the bribe money they are willing to pay to keep it off Steam for a while.
