100% achievement guide to Evergarden

A guide with an explanation and tips to achieve all Steam achievements in Evergarden.
I felt that one was missing as the badge description alone might not be enough to understand its prerequisites.

Introduction
Evergarden is a relaxing yet challenging puzzle game in which you are required to help fox spirit Fen progress through the lands in search for the Keeper.

In order to do this you need to grow plants, which can be comined into bigger plants, which in turn can be combined into even bigger plants, which at their highest level can be turned into monoliths.
Creating monoliths and progressing through the levels awards you with triangle shaped pieces (red, blue and yellow) which need to be arranged in predefined shapes to progress even further through the levels and illuminate the mysterious pillars of light. Powers ("songs") can be unlocked to aid in matching the plants as you go along.

In this guide I will not focus on these shape puzzles, yet focus on the prerequisits of the Steam achievements.

I have divided the achievement list in three big sections:
  • Those that have to do with scoring and creating patterns
  • Those that get awarded as you progress through the levels
  • Those that involve monoliths and animals (which are more tightly linked than you think!)
Points and Patterns
Scoring points
For the below achievements, score the required amount of points in the base game.
Getting 80k points is arguably the most difficult one; I recommend building two tier-2 monoliths in order to have a shot as this (see also below for info on how to create them). My personal go-to powers are Whirldwind and Ava's Jig to move the plants around and Omnitune to create a wildcard (and an immediate inventory space).

Creating multiple subsequent patterns in one turn
The next two require creating patterns in the same turn, so in between two time progressions on the clock. It involves some luck regarding the patterns that Fen comes up with, but they get notably easier when using the Omitune, Whirlwind and/or Ava's Jig songs.

Pattern Apprentice
Create 4 patterns in one turn.

Pattern Master
Create 5 patterns in one turn

Creating the same pattern multiple times at once
The last two of this section require some careful planning and are easiest to achieve when Fen comes up with a 3-plant low tier pattern (i.e. a simple triangle of tier-3 plants). The trick here is to have the same pattern proc multiple times in the same move. The Ligntning Reel and Timeless Rain songs help a lot as they allow you to fill the board with lower tier plants, then upgrade them all as the same time and create a big area of the same type.

Double Reward
Create 2 patterns at the same time

Triple Reward
Create 3 patterns at the same time
Adventure Progression
The achievements in this section are both easy to achieve and hard to miss as they get awared automatically as you progress in the story.

Unlocking pieces
Aquila's Song
Awaken Aquila.
Unlocked when receiving the song Aquila's Call

Aquatic Gardener
Find a hidden gem.
Unlocked when finding your first blue triangle piece - look closely in the background in river beds.

Energizing pillars of light
Explorer
Energize a pillar of light

Pathfinder
Energize 2 pillars of light

Adventurer
Energize 3 pillars of light

Finishing the game
Reunion
Find the Keeper
(congratulations on finishing the game!)

Daily Challenger
Complete a daily mosaic.

Daily mosaics can be found after finishing the game in a cavern to the left of the garden. Red triangle pieces are needed to complete them, so you might need to farm some monoliths.
After solving a daily mosaic, your garden gets upgrades for the remainder of the day: this means an additional 3 tier-4 plants will spawn at the start of the game. This can help in improving your top score!
Monoliths and Animals
The last set of achievements all have to do with either monoliths or animals.

Creating monoliths
Monoliths are created when two tier-6 plants are matched and award 3 extra turns upon creation.
These monoliths count as wildcards in patterns, when used as such they will activate and award an extra turn.
When two monoliths are activated on the same row (i.e. their "holes" allign) they will connect and emit a white beam, which can interact with animals.

When connecting three monoliths in an equilateral triangle, they will transform into a tier-2 monolith on your next turn, awarding a massive amount of points, 3 extra turns and 3 red triangle pieces. This higher tier monolith can also be activated for an extra turn and and will additionally yield a (one use) song power.

Wildcard
Activate a monolith

Monolith master
Create 50 monoliths

Connect the dots
Connect two monoliths

Connect all the dots
Create a tier two monolith

Getting rid of animal pests
From time to time, animals will spawn in your garden.
Rabbits spawn outside of the matching area and will stay in place until your next turn. During this next turn, they will hop in a straight line, eating every plant in their parth with each match you make.
Armadillos spawn inside of the matching area on an empty field. They do not eat plants like rabbits, however nothing can be planted on the field they occupy. When ending your turn, an armadillo will move to an adjacent empty field if possible.

You always want to get rid of them as soon as possible. This can either be done by:
  • Playing Aquila's Song, which will remove the selected animal.
  • Having two animals in adjacent fields, they will become friends / fall in love and run off together.
  • Having an animal run into a monolith connection beam. The magical properties of the beam will give the animal wings and Fen will watch in awe as the critter takes for the skies. The easiest way to do this is have two connected monoliths far away from eachother to create a long beam.
  • In case of rabbits, having them bump into a monolith.
  • In case of rabbits, moving the plant they are about to eat sideways with Ava's Jig (might be a bug as the rabbit moves along sideways and vanishes without an animation).

@saizai do you you have a picture of the trapezoid, would be helpful to add!

Also: is there a tier-3 monolith? The tier-2s seem like they could connect the same way a tier-1 does…

You can make a tier 2 monolith with a closed loop of tier 1s, not just an equilateral triangle. I made one just now using 4, in a trapezoid pattern:
.X.
X.\
.XX

\ = light beam connecting the outermost 2. The rest of connections are to their neighbors.

Thanks for making this. The tier 2 monolith was the only one that confused me because how you make an "equilateral triangle" isn't clear (I posted a guide just in case anyone else is confused). Otherwise, I was able to finish all the achievements with time, practice, and this guide :steamhappy:
