Introduction
Welcome to Ancient Planet.

In my opinion Ancient Planet is a relaxing and not too challenging Tower Defense, which you can play when you want to enjoy a game without it getting too hectic or stressful.

I really enjoyed playing the game, it's a simple but good tower defense.
But there are still some things that will help you beating this game and that lead me to write a short guide for Ancient Planet.

In this guide I will give you some basic tips, I will explain how you get 100% completion and teach you the best way to farm gems (the games currency for buying upgrades).
Tips
I will list some basic tips and advice, which should help you complete the game right here (I played all maps on medium difficulty):

  • you can reset your upgrades without cost

  • make use of "Cryogenic Towers" they will enable your other towers to fire on your enemies for a longer time, they are also very good against Aludrians once upgraded

  • always look at what enemies will spawn in the first/next wave and build towers accordingly, energy towers are good against Aludrians and bad against Hamalians, with gun towers it's the other way around

  • destroy all buildings on the map (left click on them to target them), especially whe they are hindering you from building a mine or when they are buffing your enemies. The animals can also be killed and give you 150 silver

  • place your towers well, i.e. so they can cover a big area of the path the enemies are walking on or reach as many buildings as possible

  • make use of your powers ("Concrete Block", "Minefield" and "Death Ray"), putting a "Concrete Block" directly in front of your base is a very good strategy, the "Death Ray" is very powerful if you get overwhelmed by mobs, upgrade these two powers before the mines, those aren't that strong in my opinion

  • check how many free uses of each power you get on a certain map and upgrade accordingly

  • -for most towers the last upgrades aren't that beneficial in relation to their gem price in comparison to earlier ones

  • don't forget to upgrade your mines

  • make use of "Armor Destroyer Towers" once you got them/upgraded them

  • I played most maps without using support towers

  • gold coins give you additional gems when you finish a map, so you should sell your mines at the last wave of each map

  • if you get stuck on a map farm some upgrades (I will explain how that works best in the next section)
Farming Gems + Getting 100% Achievements
You will get all achievements except for one simply by playing through the game.

The only one you won't get is the one where you have to build 50 "Missile Launchers" total.

The easiest way to get this achievement is by simply going to the "Rocks" map on world six and due to having 800 silver at the start of the map you can instantly build a "Missile Launcher" and restart the map right after that, repeat this until you get the achievement.

You won't be using "Missile Launchers" very often in normal play so you should upgrade them rather late.

Sometimes you might want to farm some gems in order to get more upgrades and make certain maps easier.

The fastest way to do that is playing the very first map a couple of times. Before you do that you should disable "tutorial" within the options menu.
Then just start the map an set it up like on the picture.
Don't forget to speed up the waves by pressing the button on the bottom left corner.
Also sell your "factory" once you have upgrade your "machine gun tower" to stage 3.
Like this you will earn around 30 gems and it will only take you about two minutes.
My setup for the last map
Here you can see my setup for the last map:
This is not a complete walkthrough, just my basic tower building strategy for that map

  • I had almost all upgrades when I played this map, you don't really need the range upgrade for "Support Towers" and you won't need any upgrades for "Mines", because you won't use these

  • I started with a "Machine Gun Tower", upgraded it to stage 3 and built one "Cryogenic Tower" after that, then I continued with an "Armor Destruction Tower" after fully upgrading the first two towers

  • I kept the other "Cryogenic Towers" on stage one for quite some time after I built them, otherwise I always upgraded towers fully before building new ones with the exception of 8,9, 14 and the "Cryogenic Towers"

  • I always kept 3 gold in case I had to put up a new "Concrete Block" in front of my base

  • I built "Machine Gun Towers" 8, 9 and 14 simultaniously and upgraded all of them to stage 3, then I built the "Support Tower", after that I upgraded 8 and 9 to stage 4 and fully upgraded them afterwards

I hope my tips were helpful and you enjoyed my guide, if you have any questions or advice, please let me know!
Cheers, Baldi!

I don't usually comment on anything with Steam but I have to say your guide did help me beat Moscow. I couldn't follow it exactly I feel the game has had many balance changes since you made it (a lot of old guides mention things that just do not freaking work at all). But I used your image as a rough idea where towers should go and it finally worked after 3 days of trying lol.

Thank you so much!

That did it! Thanks!

Thank you! They both worked fine for me, maybe try replaying the level where you have to kill the emperor, it's world 7 map 5 ("Old Rocks"). Apparently these two achievements do not always trigger.

Nice guide! I've completed all the levels with 3 stars but for some reason don't have the achievements: "Something goes wrong" and "Goodbye emperor". Did you have any issues with these 2?
